User talk:Georgewienbarg

Hello, and thank you for visiting my page. I recently worked with the Wikimedia Foundation’s Trust & Safety team to clarify some past issues with my account. They have confirmed that my editing access is in good standing again. I am committed to contributing constructively and transparently moving forward. If there are any questions about my editing history, please feel free to reach out here. My goal is simply to build and improve articles in accordance with Wikipedia’s guidelines and community standards. Thank you for your time and support. — Georgewienbarg (talk) 19:35, 6 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, admins and editors,
I’m seeking help reconciling an older block on this account with recent guidance from Trust & Safety.
  • On [DATE], John Sullivan (Trust & Safety) confirmed by email that I was “cleared to edit” (his phrase included “happy editing”).
  • I briefly regained access and began placing a new draft in [[User:Georgewienbarg/sandbox]], but access then reverted and I’m blocked again.
  • I’m not editing while blocked and am asking for administrative review to align the block status with the Trust & Safety determination.
If useful, I can privately provide the email header/wording from Trust & Safety to an admin for verification. Thank you for taking a look.

License tagging for Image:Georgeanddeoug2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Georgeanddeoug2.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 03:07, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Davidblkwiki.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Davidblkwiki.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:24, 12 January 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Closedmouth (talk) 11:24, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on J. Paul Emerson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The article J. Paul Emerson has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced biography. Article says nothing to prove subject is notable.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —Ryūlóng (竜龙) 18:05, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You Deleted a page about me. Please userfy this page and repost

[edit]

There were citations from Time Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, The United States Patent and Trademark Office, The Washington Post (twice), The Los Angeles Times, etc., etc., etc. at [1] documenting about how Hank Berger and I cut the original Hollywood Sign selling pieces of it on Art Deco Lithographs and how I was the first person to attain a U.S. Trademark on the configuration of the letters, which was cited in the Deletion Talk. How on earth does one make that stuff up? That I just created a documentary on my 106 year old Great Aunt funded by the Cody Museum in Wyoming and was written about on page two of the Wyoming Tribune Eagle, that I was Lee Abrams national news and public affairs director when I was 22 and he was 20. How the Hollwood Sign was sold in itself is important, but that I was the first person to attain a tradmark. That was historic. Thank you!

Can't we userfy this page and get it back up? George 18:41, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Furthermore, the pages I have created are currently on Wikipedia: J. Paul Emerson, for one. Hank Berger for another. Please google my name George Jay Wienbarg for documentation (IMDB etc) and let me know what I can do to remove this block so I can continue editing many of the pages I created were ripped off by this Lee Klein guy. Georgewienbarg (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I respectfully request reconsideration of this block. I am George Jay Wienbarg, a journalist, broadcaster, and actor, and I was attempting to draft a biography of myself in my sandbox with properly sourced references. I have no connection to the user "Masterknighted" or any other blocked accounts, and I believe my account was mistakenly associated with them through technical logs.

I fully understand and respect Wikipedia’s policies against sockpuppetry and disruptive editing, and I have no intention of violating those standards. My goal is simply to contribute a reliably sourced biography in good faith.

I kindly ask that this block be lifted so that I may continue working within the guidelines. Thank you for your consideration.

Decline reason:

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • (Non-administrator comment) Hi, I have moved this unblock request to a new section at the bottom of your talk page to make it easier for others to respond to. Relativity ⚡️ 22:20, 6 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • George, you say above I recently worked with the Wikimedia Foundation’s Trust & Safety team to clarify some past issues with my account. They have confirmed that my editing access is in good standing again. We'll need some verification of this from T&S; perhaps you might request your contact there to post it here. Otherwise, we have to continue to treat this as a compromised account. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 01:14, 7 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the guidance. I have reached out to the Wikimedia Foundation’s Trust & Safety team and asked them to provide direct confirmation here. I will await their response.

This user is asking that their block be reviewed:

Georgewienbarg (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Hello, I am following up on my request for reconsideration. I believe my block was made in error, as I have **no connection to the other accounts** listed. I only wish to contribute constructively, beginning with a properly sourced biography in my sandbox.
I am George Jay Wienbarg, a journalist, broadcaster, and actor. I was told by Trust & Safety that I was “cleared to edit,” yet access was later revoked. I understand and respect policies against sockpuppetry and disruptive editing, and I will fully **abide by community guidelines**.
My goal is to make good-faith contributions, starting with a biography using reliable sources. I can provide Trust & Safety’s communication confirming my clearance if needed.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Notes:

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
  • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=Hello, I am following up on my request for reconsideration. If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}} with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.

I understand that writing about oneself can be problematic, and I appreciate why that concern was raised. To address this, I have prepared an improved draft offline, written in neutral language and supported by reliable, independent sources with complete, varifiable inline citations from highly-respected national sources such as the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and others. My goal is not to self-promote, but to ensure verifiability so that others can review and decide on its suitability. If my editing access is restored, I would place this draft in my sandbox for review. Thank you for considering my request.
