Your edits

[edit]

Hello there. Could you please be more careful when making edits like this? You changed the URLs for the two archive links, which luckily didn't cause any issues in this case, but the third link was changed from dailymotion.com to wdailymotion.com, a completely different domain.

Additionally, in the future, I recommend you use more informative edit summaries, rather than one-word summaries like "design" that don't actually explain what your edit did. Help:Edit summary has some information on this. – Epicgenius (talk) 01:08, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you removed a number of redlinks from Peccary. You should be aware that it's OK for links to be red, as this indicates something that another editor believes deserves a topic. See WP:REDYES. Also, you made a number of edits that didn't seem like improvements. You may wish to seek out assistance at the tea house before making further edits. —Locke Coletc 23:37, 9 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Changing URLs and the MOS

[edit]

@Epicgenius had asked you above about being more careful when changing external links. I haven't seen any issues since, but I did wonder if you were checking the new URLs before saving your edits (that is, are you opening the new links to make sure they still direct our readers to the same place as the old links)?

Also, regarding the earlier notice you removed regarding the Manual of Style (MOS), I notice you're making a lot of punctuation changes in articles. You should read up on MOS:DASH and MOS:ELLIPSES before proceeding further with this type of edit, as it appears you may be accidentally taking articles that are currently MOS-compliant and making them non-compliant. Also check out MOS:U.S.. —Locke Coletc 00:17, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Some infobox documentations like website at Template:Infobox person#Parameters say to not display the www. part unless the site requires it. It only applies to url's which are displayed to the reader. Maybe you misunderstood such an instruction and try to also apply it to non-displayed url's. Hey, after this edit, just wanted to remind you to check out MOS:ELLIPSES, specifically Generally, use a non-breaking space before an ellipsis, and a regular space after it: "Alpha, Bravo,{{nbsp}}... Zulu". You removed the {{nbsp}} invocations and the space preceding the ellipses going against the guidance at the Manual of Style. —Locke Coletc 17:37, 28 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Making a policy

[edit]

As for time to make a policy which may cover news without drawing attention to criminals, consider starting a discussion at Wikipedia:Village pump (idea lab) or Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style. 174.138.218.72 (talk) 21:26, 23 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am not able to think of other places to hold discussions on these subjects besides the village pump, MOS, or the noticeboards for admins as well as the one for bureaucrats. There is no rush to do any of that, feel free to comment on any of the discussions or start others! There is a discussion going on at BLP and there's also the one to which you are contributing. As you may see to make a policy which is individualized may take some work. You're gauging things well. To my mind, the seeming obliquity with which some of the principles and such are applied is a shock. Efficacity (talk) 05:42, 24 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just a note that neither of the ANs nor the BN, are places to propose policies nor to try and change policies. Nil Einne (talk) 12:04, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

ANI advice

[edit]

People are proposing a block at ANI. You seem like a good-faith but inexperienced editor caught up in behavioral rules. Here's my advice on how you can avoid a block:

  • Strike (<s></s>) all of your comments talking about others' motives
  • Strike your comments talking about others' behavior
  • Strike your comments containing the word "you"
  • Post a promise at ANI to work collaboratively with other editors instead of claiming it "has been a Herculean effort. I feel like tunnels are being dug to thwart me".
