A tag has been placed on User:Devang OpsHub/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Undisclosed paid editing

[edit]
Information icon

Hello Devang OpsHub. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to User:Devang OpsHub/sandbox, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Devang OpsHub. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Devang OpsHub|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:00, 5 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, website, or role, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:04, 9 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This user is asking to be unblocked to request a change in username.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I understand why my account was blocked. My previous username “Devang OpsHub” gave the impression that I was editing on behalf of a company, which violates Wikipedia’s username policy.

I would like to request a username change to “DevangM2025” (or another neutral personal name) and to be unblocked.

I also disclose that I am affiliated with OpsHub as part of my work. In line with the Terms of Use and WP:PAID, I will ensure all future edits are fully transparent and comply with WP:COI rules.

My intent is not to advertise, but to contribute neutrally to Wikipedia using reliable, independent sources. I will continue to use the Articles for Creation process and rely on reviewers to assess neutrality.

Thank you for considering my request.

Administrators should consider discussing any unblock with the blocking administrator (see the blocking policy).

If "Devang" is your name or otherwise a reference to you personally, your current username is fine. Your name "gave the impression that I was editing on behalf of a company" because that's exactly what you were doing. The fundamental(if common) error that you made is that you were telling what you want the world to know about your company, like its activities and offerings. That is the wrong approach. A Wikipedia article about a company must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the company, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company. Put another way, we don't want to know what the company wants to say about itself, we want to know what others wholly unconnected with the company have chosen on their own to say about it and what makes the company important/significant/influential. You should tell the world what your company wants to say about itself on its own website, not Wikipedia.

Most people in your position do not appreciate that writing a new article is the most difficult task to perform on Wikipedia, and it's even harder with a conflict of interest. You must set aside everything you know about the company and all materials it puts out(like interviews and press releases) and limit yourself to summarizing what independent sources with significant coverage(not brief mentions or announcements of routine business activities) say. Most people in your position have great difficulty with that, and few succeed, though it does happen. Are you the rare person who can do it? Possibly, but the odds are against it. Please read WP:BOSS, and have your colleagues and superiors read it, too. Is there anything you might edit about other than your company or its field? 331dot (talk) 08:54, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'll also ask if you have three independent sources with significant coverage that meet the criteria I describe(not interviews/press releases/announcments of activities). 331dot (talk) 08:56, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for clarifying the requirements. I understand now that the draft must rely on independent reliable sources with significant coverage, not company materials.
Based on your guidance, I have identified three third-party sources that provide independent coverage of OpsHub:
  1. OpsHub Brings Integration to the Masses – SoftwareReviews (Info-Tech Research Group) – Independent analyst commentary on OpsHub’s integration role.
  2. OpsHub Company Profile – CB Insights – Independent industry profile including analysis and competitive context.
  3. OpsHub in IBM Partner Directory – External directory recognition by IBM.
I believe these sources demonstrate that OpsHub has received independent coverage. I will continue to look for additional media or analyst articles to strengthen the case further.
Please let me know if these three examples meet the threshold of notability, or if more in-depth coverage would be required before resubmitting. Devang OpsHub (talk) 05:55, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
