Reversion of Soldier Creek article

[edit]

I noticed you reverted my edit that added coordinates to add them in a differing format. Am I unaware of something new? Is there a new policy on this or a benefit to the style you use? I'd be grateful to learn something new here... Oona Wikiwalker (talk) 01:23, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reversion of Volcano House article

[edit]

Uh... I think I did something embarrassing. I intended to add the coordinates of Volcano House. I did not see them on the page because I suddenly recalled Huell Howser lived there. I looked them up and ogled the house, thinking about how nice he was and missing him, (we very briefly worked on the same project once) then I think I *removed your coordinates*. I am SO SORRY. Oona Wikiwalker (talk) 01:53, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Oona Wikiwalker: OK. I couldn't see any reason for you to delete the coordinates with the comment "Removed unnecessary tag". As for the coordinates in Soldier Creek (Los Angeles County, California) refered to in your message above, you replaced the {{coord}} template I had added with one lacking the |type= and |region= parameters, which seemed to me to be a disimprovement. When coordinates are already present in an article, there's usually no reason to replace them unless they turn out to be inaccurate or otherwise deficient. Deor (talk) 14:45, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In the first instance I commented "Removed unnecessary tag" because I saw the {{coord}} tag and conflated it with the {{{coord missing}} tag. I did not see your edit in either page and I didn't look for them because I picked the pages up from the backlog. This is the first time in a year of getting articles that way that I came across this situation. Pages with coordinates added to them usually leave the backlog within a few minutes. Have a nice day. WP: Not a Forum

[edit]

You want to take a look at it and see if it violates the Forum rule? This happens on the best selling artist page too quite frequently, very tiresome and likely the same groups of people

Talk:Elvis Presley#Intro paragraph

Talk:List of best-selling music artists#This list is very incorrect / No one sold more records worldwide than Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby , The Beatles , Frank Sinatra, Julio Iglesias or ABBA

Never17 (talk) 09:46, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Never17: I don't see any problem with the Elvis thread, since it's about the wording in the article, not about Mr. Presley himself. The best-selling post is probably misguided or biased, but everyone seems to be ignoring it, so I'd be inclined to just let it be. Deor (talk) 14:39, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you'd added some by hand, and that alerted me to the fact that the bot has stopped working.

Yes, I was going to alert you to the problem after I had fully awoken. (My morning coffe hasn't completely kicked in yet.) Deor (talk) 11:37, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I se. (By the way, it's the 18th now. :-) ) —scs (talk) 12:05, 18 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates

[edit]

Hi Deor, Thanks for adding coordinates to the Carnowen article. Do you mind adding the coordinates for Liscooley & Crossroads, I have them in the infoboxs, when I wrote the article I didn't plot them in properly and I don't know exactly how to.

Thanks in advance ! JJ549m (talk) 15:49, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@JJ549m: I did Liscooley, and I moved the coordinates of Crossroads, County Donegal (which I had emended a couple of days ago) into the infobox. Everything OK now? Deor (talk) 16:01, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect, thanks a million Deor. JJ549m (talk) 16:09, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure how I should log off early

[edit]

I was the person ya reverted who changed it to a 0 to log off early. I don't really know what I should do so I can insure that its fine when I set it to 0. - Georgetown ISD Flower. 24.155.147.108 (talk) 17:49, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Frankly, I don't know either. I just saw that reverting the edit in which you changed the number to zero would eliminate the ParserFunction error. I have no idea what the code you added the page was supposed to be for (especially since you have a different IP now), as it didn't add anything to the displayed page. If I were you, and if you're the same person who added it, I'd just delete that code. As long as you don't have an account of your own, there's no telling who is using that IP at any given time. Why don't you just create an account as Georgetown ISD Flower? Deor (talk) 19:04, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The school has blocked *.wikimedia.org. I have an account and I won't hide that fact (I would much rather be using it but I can't). I've been collecting IPS that i've come across so people know they are in Georgetown ISD - GeorgetownISD Flower 24.155.147.109 (talk) 15:47, 16 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Clady River (Gweedore)

[edit]

Hello there!! Hope you are well?

Just thought I'd contact you in relation to the Clady River (Gweedore) page. I think you added the coordinates for that wee river back in 2021, which was great. It seems, however, that the wrong map has been added to that page, giving the entirely wrong location of that wee river. The map places the river in South Donegal, when it is actually located in Gweedore (Gaoth Dobhair) in the north-west of County Donegal.

I've tried to remedy the inaccuracy, but I think I've only made matters worse!!! I only noticed the inaccurate map yesterday. I was wondering if your good self could have a wee look at that page? It would be great if you could source the correct map for that wee river. There is a Clady River which runs into Lough Eske in South Donegal, but that's an entirely different Clady River.

Thanks, and sorry for bothering you like this. Laggan Boy (talk) 09:56, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
