Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 1815 in South Africa, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lord Somerset. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 19:58, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page 1661 in South Africa, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A bare URL error. References show this error when one of the URL-containing parameters cannot be paired with an associated title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 08:50, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Daniel Mizen! I noticed that you recently made an edit at Palestine–United Kingdom relations and marked it as "minor", but it may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia: it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Speederzzz (Talk) (Stalk) 09:54, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Okay thanks, sorry its been a while since I read the definitions, but thank you for reminding me! I will adjust my editing in the future (I mainly edit Bilateral relations in the news, country timelines, and specifically South African history) Daniel Mizen (talk) 09:56, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I just see a lot of people incorrectly using the minor edit button, so I try to spread awareness.
Speederzzz (Talk) (Stalk) 10:01, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
appreciate it, you've been too kind :) Daniel Mizen (talk) 11:07, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Please read WP:NOTNEWS and WP:ROUTINE. Some entries you have made in multiple country pages have been reverted over these concerns. Borgenland (talk) 15:21, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Generally we avoid dumping PR releases by politicians and other figures, routine holidays, copy-pastes from newspaper articles and rolling coverage. Additionally, as a member of WP:PHILIPPINES, we have stricter rules on inserting major incidents due to issues of article size and sockpuppetry issues. Borgenland (talk) 15:41, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Borgenland
I understand what you mean now after reading your message, I must admit that my knowledge of the wikipedia rulings is not as much as others.
Would you possibly have specific examples and reasoning of what type of recents events I can add in a timeline page, or a bilateral relations page, and examples of what I shouldn't?
Thanks, it would really help a lot as this is a passion of mine outside of wikipedia too Daniel Mizen (talk) 19:11, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
For example in a disaster event, there’s no need to report what happened the next day. We usually updated death tolls on the day it happened. Would like to explain more once I’m back from a vacation next week. Borgenland (talk) 11:10, 6 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
okay thanks, I understand, I will appreciate further pointers. Enjoy your vacation Daniel Mizen (talk) 11:37, 6 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to Sudan–United Arab Emirates relations. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because The article is mainly about recent events which can be found in appropriate articles like Sudanese civil war (2023–present)#United Arab Emirates. See Sudan–United Kingdom relations for how you can write similar article. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit for review" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. FuzzyMagma (talk) 08:28, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Okay thanks, appreciate the pointers, always happy to improve on my wikipedia editing :) Daniel Mizen (talk) 08:42, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't move well-established articles to draft space. I'm not sure what you were trying to accomplish there since you moved it right back to article space, but per WP:DRAFTIFY, Editors should generally avoid moving an article to draftspace in the following circumstances: 1. The article was created more than 90 days ago; this article was created in 2010. Jay8g [VTE] 23:01, 28 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Got it, will not do it again Daniel Mizen (talk) 05:28, 29 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please consider rewriting Austria#Education without the sub-sections? Four levels are clearly unnecessary. Please see Germany (an FA) for comparison. Otherwise I agree that this section should be kept short, as the article is too long. Feel free to discuss further on the talk page if necessary. Best, Cfrhansen (talk) 16:01, 30 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

all done, should be okay now, think that was a mistake on my part Daniel Mizen (talk) 18:49, 30 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline Events of Events

[edit]

Timelines of event articles are written in past tense. Borgenland (talk) 09:25, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

okay, I had genuinely no recollection of timelines being in past tense, my bad, thanks for the message Daniel Mizen (talk) 09:33, 23 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
On the topic of timelines, you have created single-years pages for the early history of South Africa, but haven't linked to the short decade pages that already exist. It's better to build the short existing pages rather than to create sub-pages. For example, you created 1631 in South Africa, but didn't link to 1630s in South Africa. Wikipedia should have one page on each topic; not multiple in parallel. So, let's consolidate them in one page (the decade pages) until they become WP:TOOLONG. Mirrors

[edit]

Information icon Thanks for contributing to the article 2005 Maldives civil unrest. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. Sam Kuru (talk) 13:44, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Okay thanks, apprecate the input Daniel Mizen (talk) 06:09, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Again, at Sack of Antwerp - this was pretty rough. Please don't add any more sources until you've carefully evaluated them and ensured they meet our criteria at WP:RS. Many of the sources you added there were very clearly identified as being copied from here. Others were blogs and junk homework scraper sites. This just isn't acceptable. Please stop labelling your edits as minor edits unless they are minor edits. Roger 8 Roger (talk) 08:40, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I thought adding sources to an article was classified as a minor edit because it didn't change the meaning of the article in any way, I am sorry for misinterpreting it, I will stop that in future Daniel Mizen (talk) 09:53, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

AI

[edit]

Hi - are you using AI/LLM tools for your edits? If so, could you mention:

  • Which tool(s) you're using, and the version
  • What features and/or prompts you are using
  • What review you are doing of the output

Thanks. Gnomingstuff (talk) 18:16, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The only time I have ever used LLM tools for an edit is to find sources when I am struggling, and then I will review each of those sources myself to make sure they are reliable and that they follow WP:RS and such Daniel Mizen (talk) 07:14, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
