[edit] Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a draft for a Wikipedia article about yourself, at User:ConnieWillis/sandbox. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Notable people who have edited Wikipedia). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Advice
[edit]@ConnieWillis Hi Connie, I'm one of the many reviewers at Articles for Creation. I saw you were having some issues navigating around the site and generally just getting used to Wiki guidelines, and that's okay. I suggest you read through WP:INTRODUCTION, WP:YOURFIRSTARTICLE and WP:CITE to get to know the bare basics. I and most other users are here to answer any questions you might have. - Thank you for your kind response. i did so much work for the platform and now exhausted by it. I have dedicated 4 days to this. Sadly, I guess I'll have to get back to it for now. ConnieWillis (talk) 23:26, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- It's definitely a large learning curve and we do have many, many rules and guidelines, but in due time I'm sure you'll get there.

- I don't know... i was told i could do this myself. But looks like I cannot. ConnieWillis (talk) 23:33, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
- You have made precisely nine edits to Wikipedia ALL concerned with promoting yourself at Draft:Connie Willis (broadcaster) not sure why that was exhausting? Theroadislong (talk) 06:22, 23 May 2025 (UTC)

More advice
[edit]I've had a look at your draft, and would like to offer some more advice.
Firstly, you shouldn't really be writing about yourself at all, but I guess you already know that since you've been signposted towards our autobiography policy at WP:AUTOBIO. In that context, you should also take a look at why an article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing.
Assuming you are proceeding nevertheless, the next thing you must do is forget everything you know about yourself. That's because a Wikipedia article about you should not be based on what you know, but on what reliable and independent sources (preferably secondary ones) have previously published about you. Your job is merely to summarise what they have said, citing each source against the information it has provided. Anything that doesn't come from such a source, should not go into the article, no matter how 'true' or 'correct' it may be.
The sources you are basing your article on must be such that they satisfy one of our notability guidelines. Notability is a core concept in Wikipedia, which basically means 'this subject has already received attention'. That means on one hand that it is noteworthy enough to be included in a global encyclopaedia, and on the other, that there are published sources which can be summarised into a Wikipedia article (because after all, if such sources don't exist, it would be impossible to create a Wikipedia article based on them). The most common notability guideline is the general one, WP:GNG, and that almost certainly applies to you. Please study it carefully, to see what you need to meet it. As an alternative, you may also be able to rely on one of the subject-specific notability guidelines such as WP:JOURNALIST, which requires significant professional achievements rather than coverage in secondary sources.
To be quite clear, you need to demonstrate that you meet one or the other of these notability guidelines, otherwise you could not be included in the encyclopaedia. This should therefore be your primary concern at this stage.
Moving on to referencing, articles on living people (WP:BLP) have particularly strict referencing requirements, for privacy etc. reasons. Pretty much every material statement, and in particular anything potentially contentious, as well as any private personal and family details, must be clearly supported by inline citations to reliable published sources. Your draft currently has no inline citations whatsoever, whereas to be acceptable, it should be extensively cited throughout. Please see WP:REFB for advice on referencing in general, and possibly also WP:ILC on inline citations specifically.
Finally, please remember that you are drafting an encyclopaedia article, not a personal 'profile' or promo piece. You must write in a neutral, factual tone, and encyclopaedic style. Expressions like "This is her love and joy—being on what she considers the most iconic station on the planet. She feels compelled to stand up for those who have seen what is not supposed to be seen."
are chatty, informal, and peacocky, and have no place in Wikipedia. You need to shed your broadcaster's tendencies, and learn to write like... a tax inspector (!) would. ;)
Hope this helps, --DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:08, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
