Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to user pages or sandboxes, as you did at Donald Super's Life-Span, Life-Space Theory . Since these pages have not been accepted as articles, user pages, sandboxes and drafts are not suitable for linking in articles. and such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been deleted, please do not re-add any such links, thank you - Arjayay (talk) 09:48, 22 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft

[edit]

Hi. I returned your draft to your sandbox because it isn't ready for mainspace yet.

  • Wikipedia articles need to be based on reliable secondary sources, both to support the factual content and to show that the topic is notable. You can't use Super as the main source about their model. (Same for Gottfredson, Holland, etc.) You also need to follow each statement with an inline citation that supports the claims in the previous statement.
  • Don't use bullet points (or un-bulleted short statements). These are only helpful as reminders to people who already know what you're talking about. Explain things in ways that would make sense to people who aren't familiar with the topic at all.
    • For example, "Formation of self-concept, attitudes, needs, and general worldview." isn't meaningful to someone who isn't familiar with these terms. In addition, terms like self-concept happen to have more specific meanings in psychology than they do in plain English. You need to remember that you're writing for everyone in the world.
  • Articles should only be about one thing. You could mention related models briefly, but they shouldn't be covered in a way that makes them take up so much of the article.
  • Be specific in attributing opinions.
    • For example, you wrote: "While Super’s theory is widely respected, some scholars note its limitations". "Widely respected" according to what source? Who are these "some scholars" who disagree?
  • Wikipedia article titles need to be concise. "Donald Super's Life-Span, Life-Space Theory" isn't an appropriate name for an article.
  • Your formatting isn't right. Have a look at pages 7-9 in the "Editing Wikipedia" brochure I've linked to here.

Hi Ian,
Thank you for your helpful feedback on my draft. I've revised the article significantly based on your suggestions. Specifically, I:
  • Replaced primary sources with reliable secondary sources (e.g., academic textbooks and peer-reviewed journals),
  • Removed bullet points and restructured content into complete explanatory paragraphs,
  • Eliminated vague phrasing and properly attributed all opinions with inline citations,
  • Focused the content exclusively on Super’s theory (with minimal space given to related models),
  • Renamed the article to Life-Span, Life-Space Theory for clarity and alignment with Wikipedia’s title guidelines,
  • Ensured formatting is consistent with the Editing Wikipedia guide and Manual of Style.
The updated version is now in my sandbox here: [[User:Chericomfort/sandbox]]. I would appreciate any further feedback you may have to help prepare it for mainspace.
Best regards,
Cheri Chericomfort (talk) 01:04, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
