Thanks so much Jamiebuba.
I somehow understand the reasons, but I strongly feel that the company merits a place on Wikipedia. A lot of the subsidiaries have attracted significant interest in the media and in government due to their recent accomplishments(Best Holiday Resort in Nigeria for 2023 and 2024; the largest cassava farm in Nigeria, etc).
As such, I believe that the company behind these significant feats in Agriculture and Hospitality deserves a mention. Don't you think so? Chendii (talk) 16:46, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm MCE89. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Tourism in Nigeria have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. MCE89 (talk) 13:13, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Well noted. I made the edits as a neutral visitor to the resort who was amazed at the transformation and wanted to document it for posterity. Will read the page and links to understand what I can or cannot do. Thanks. Chendii (talk) 13:28, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Chendii. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Chendii. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Chendii|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 13:17, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have not received any payment for writing this post, and I am not expecting any payment. I have not received any promise of payment for writing this article.
At the time of writing the post,(December 2024) I used to work there, but I don't work there again.
That said, I will no longer edit until I go through the terms of use and other links. Thanks. Chendii (talk) 13:26, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you are a former employee, that is still a conflict of interest you should disclose.(though it is not paid editing) 331dot (talk) 13:32, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. But you will note I had disclosed my COI earlier, but removed it when I left the company.
Will put it back again, and check for any supporting articles/links/stories that meet Wiki's criteria before attempting to edit. Or do you advise I just forget it and move on to other posts where I have no COI? Chendii (talk) 13:37, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It is much easier to edit about topics when you have no COI with the topic. I would suggest that you spend a lot of time editing about topics where you have no COI first. You don't need to forget about the COI topic permanently, but build up some experience first. 331dot (talk) 13:43, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Will do. Have a great day. Cheers! Chendii (talk) 13:48, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
