Interface administrator changes
- Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
- An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
- An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2025 to reduce the backlog of articles in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!
Need help
[edit]Hi. Hope you're doing well. Recently, I am reviewing the Draft:Vira Sathidar created by User:Callmehelper and all looks good for me to acceptance. I am confusing in whether to accept or not as the user is currently on topic ban and draft is created after the block on topic ban. So, I need some assistance from you. Thank You! Fade258 (talk) 15:41, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- What topic ban? Do you have a link to it?--Bbb23 (talk) 16:03, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- Page/Topic ban in B. R. Ambedkar and its talk page. Fade258 (talk) 16:08, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- A partial block from editing a particular page and its Talk page is not a topic ban. I see no relationship between the draft and the page block. If you think otherwise, feel free to talk to Valereee who imposed the pblock.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:15, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- I misunderstood whether it is topic ban or a page block. I will talk to Valereee about this topic. Thank You very much for your time. Fade258 (talk) 17:29, 7 May 2025 (UTC)

Question
[edit]Question for you. Say a user is creating needless and downright bizzare redirects and I want to nominate the page for speedy deletion, what would that fall under? Lemonademan22 (talk) 21:33, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- I don't like abstract questions. Give me an example.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:49, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- User:YeedyYaada has created dozens and dozens of needless and bizzare redirects that aren't needed and would never be used in the first place. It is really unconstructive. For example, the user has put on the top of Tribal chief "for so and so please see this section of the article" which I have reverted as that is just ridiculous. I am of the opinion this user is doing this either to inflate their edit count or doing it for really no reason other than they can. That being said, they are needless and this user is vandalising other articles too. On the disambiguation page Y2J the user deleted all the content just to redirect it to a wrestler who goes by that nickname, despite the fact Y2J (band) exist. It's needless and careless and is a headache in removing, and these redirects need to go. So, what would that fall under when I tag them for speedy deletion? Lemonademan22 (talk) 16:33, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- WP:R3. Although it says it's for "typos", in practice I have found it's used for any recently created implausible redirect.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:59, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Bbb23 Another question, since I will be tagging so many, obviously you need to tell the user you've tagged what they've created, but since there is so many, do I have to individually mention every single redirect I have tagged or can I list them off or be more general and say "I've tagged a load of your redirects"? Lemonademan22 (talk) 21:24, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- All that matters is you tell the user what page, what criterion you used, and how to contest the deletion. I use Twinkle, making the whole process much easier. Given the number of redirects you intend to tag, you'd probably be better off taking the matter to WP:ANI.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:40, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

- (Just passing by this talk page from a notification about a section archive) I don't get how that hatnote was ridiculous. Is there a specific guideline about not having hatnotes link to a section of a page? Justjourney (talk | contribs) 22:04, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- I have not reviewed the merits of what Lemonademan22 has said. I'm just giving them advice on how to tag, etc.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:30, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

thank you for taking steps to protect the integrity of the above article ! as u can see from the page History a bizarre vandalism campaign started over the last 48 hours from a few newly created accounts, feel free to semi protect the page to prevent further issues WorldTravleerAndPhotoTaker (talk) 09:10, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- I've blocked another account. I hope that helps.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:15, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- thanks again ! i would say they will stop their disruptive behaviour in a couple of weeks after the buzz over the Netflix doc has faded, very telling they waited until a few hours before it dropped before attacking the article WorldTravleerAndPhotoTaker (talk) 13:24, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
HawkNightingale175
[edit]Just a question about HawkNightingale175. I didn't see the SPI but HawkNightengale175 was in an active discussion here and I think their comments make sense.. So does one other editor. I think their report does, too. I'm not questioning the block, just the timing on that article. Thanks either way. Sammy D III (talk) 19:39, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you're asking, but HawkNightingale175's comments may be taken into consideration when resolving a content dispute as long as their sock didn't also contribute to the same discussion, in which case the comments should be interpreted as only one "vote".--Bbb23 (talk) 19:44, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
- I agree, and they did only use one account there. You blocked them, could you have moved against the wrong person? It seems like two editors both live in glass houses and both have rocks. Note: I'm just outside eyes. Thanks. Sammy D III (talk) 19:49, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]And @ToBeFree:. I was going to see who blocked them then ask for a rev/del. Much appreciation sent both of your ways. Knitsey (talk) 22:09, 10 May 2025 (UTC)

Question on Speedy Deletion Grounds
[edit]May I kindly ask for your opinion on a page I made Knee (gamer). The page was tagged for speedy deletion due to relevance issues and claims of false advertisement. However, these grounds are questionable considering the media coverage of this gamer. I also noticed there are many Wikipedia pages for his fighting game rivals such as Arslan Ash and Justin Wong, to name a few. I am confused as to how some of his peers, who won less titles at the EVO tournaments for fighting games possess a sufficient "indication of importance" to have a page on Wikipedia but not for Knee. I look forward to a positive response. Thank you. Marugamirica 03:49, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- I have added multiple credible articles to justify his inclusion and am hoping for your consideration on the matter. There are other pages in Wikipedia that make no sense, such as the Trinidad Rizal page, who is a sister of a notable figure, but has little citations on her own page. I do not see a proper uniform criteria on deletions of pages. Marugamirica (talk) 15:52, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- Another admin will evaluate the tags; I have no interest in doing so. However, you should not be removing any speedy tags of pages you have created.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:56, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- I see. Thank you. Marugamirica (talk) 16:07, 11 May 2025 (UTC)

Geneviève Ryan-Martel
[edit]Hello, can you please undelete Geneviève Ryan-Martel? It was a well-sourced stub that I planned to expand further in mainspace. Thriley (talk) 17:01, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- If you wish, I'll restore it to draft space. Let me know.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:07, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- That would be fine. Thank you, Thriley (talk) 17:11, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
