Requests for page protection

Current requests for increase in protection level

[edit]
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – The "D" in "A. D. Whitfield" is being continually vandalized to a "B". Suggest page protection for 24 hours to 1 week. Iljhgtn (talk) 02:53, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Temporary extended-confirmed protection: Addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. Repeated deletion of existing sourced content and replacement with unsourced promotional material by single purpose editor (very like COI or a paid editor). Temporary protection for now would likely suffice until the user can be sorted out. 10mmsocket (talk) 09:10, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Extended-confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing and sockpuppetry since April. Kajmer05 (talk) 10:22, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations – Persistent addition of unsourced BLP violations. LightlySeared (talk) 10:29, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – New accounts and IPs restoring edits by CU-blocked editor. Previous socks were blocked. Mellk (talk) 10:46, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – The article was previously protected earlier this month as an IP and suspected sock was adding poorly sourced information and edit warring and was reverted by multiple users, see diffs: [2], [3], [4].

That same IP has now returned following the expiration of the page protection to add the exact same content: [5], [6].

Please can the article be protected once again to keep it stable. Ixudi (talk) 11:20, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Persistent addition of unsourced content. Waxworker (talk) 11:39, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – New editor engaging in persistent and undiscussed blanking of large parts of well-supported, long-standing content. Requesting extended confirmed protection, like many other articles in this contentious topic area have. Amanda A. Brant (talk) 11:57, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

[edit]
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Please correct the Iranian civilian casualties in paragraph three. First it was changed without reason from 200 to 600. Then someone changed and separated the estimate by Human Rights Activists in Iran News Agency (HRANA) estimate to be over 1,100 civilians killed which is conflating all deaths with civilians. No source was added to support this. The sources currently listed next to these sentences actually say 200 but these are out off date. HRANA's latest figure is actually 431 civilians killed. The source is presently used in the infobox for their own estimate of 1,190 total deaths. The Iranian government hasn't released updated figures so that should be removed until they have an estimate. I suggest adding the following sentence:

"According to the anti-government Human Rights Activists in Iran News Agency, 1,190 Iranians were killed including at least 431 civilians."

Requests for autopatrolled

Autopatrolled

[edit]

I've been here for almost two decades, with 30k+ edits and a fair number of articles created in the mean time. I believe I am well-qualified for autopatrolled perms. _dk (talk) 23:50, 16 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi. Based upon my learning and experience over the years of editing on Wikipedia (almost a decade now), I have created very selected pages which I find qualifying Wikipedia policies. If I find them trending in news but un-complying with the policies, I usually leave a redirect, or occasionally start with the draft. I believe not a single page that I created and/or majorly contributed has been deleted, and many respected editors and admins whom I had interacted with have always been helpful and supportive, believing in my good faith. Plus I only rewrite those articles in bad state which I find relevant, and not every other random article. However, due to recent attacks by sock puppetry over my edits, I want to be an autopatrolled user, so that I can easily continue volunteering independently here, and participate in the ongoing Destubathon as well. I promise I will not misuse this position. Thank you! M. Billoo 13:24, 19 June 2025 (UTC)

Requested this permission ~2 months ago, denied because I was mostly creating auto-notable stubs. I think I have expanded the types of articles I create, including well-sourced local pages or biographical entries where I take time to source subjects that do not inherently meet a generic notability criteria. (I still do create auto-notable pages sometimes, but those no longer make up the majority of pages I create.) As a new page reviewer, I got good experience with the notability guidelines reviewing articles during the backlog drive WP:MAY25, and also participating in AfD. Thought about requesting again as I have run into a few of my own pages while reviewing pages that are in topics I contribute to/am interested in. Yoblyblob (Talk) :) 02:15, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

Also wanted to mention that if I am unsure of a subject's notability, I will utilize WP:AFC for my own articles occasionally Yoblyblob (Talk) :) 02:18, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I would like to use the editor mainly to have access to backreferences for editing using regular expressions. My actual use case would be to make a 300-line table sortable by last name. Work with data would also be useful. I also would like to be able to speed up formatting more generally, e.g. italics, quote marks, etc. Selbsportrait (talk) 22:27, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

I'm back again! I previously requested this to help with WP:POSTMOVE for links to Guna language (then withdrew that request), but since then I've realised there are a few areas I could use this tool in, not least for updating non-linked uses of "Kuna" and "Cuna" for Guna language and Guna people (of which there seem to be quite a lot). I might also use it for linking/redlinking new articles (for instance, some of the drafts I'm currently working on), and also to help out with updating some of the 90,000+ articles transcluding (the now-deprecated) Template:EngvarB to other English-variety templates. Obviously there might also be some typo correction etc. as required. Pineapple Storage (talk) 17:03, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Do you have any lists of what all articles you would link to Guna people? CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 18:37, 29 June 2025 (UTC)
Well to be honest, that's part of what AWB would be useful for... The Kuwait News Agency is also known as KUNA, and until 2023 the currency of Croatia was the Croatian kuna, so there are currently 2,372 articles with that term; filtering out "croatia" and "kuna.net.kw" gets this down to 925 articles, and using regex /Kuna / (with the space) reduces it to 401 articles. Beyond that I don't know of a way to filter out the ones that aren't references to Guna language or Guna people without manually going through all (or at least most) of them. Similarly, wikt:cuna is a word in quite a few languages, so there are also 1,069 articles containing it. Regex /Cuna / and filtering out "Tristan da" gets this down to 453 articles, but I think that's the best I can do! Pineapple Storage (talk) 09:21, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
Yeah, that is what I wanted to see. I have no issues with you linking non-linked uses of "Kuna", "Cuna", "Guna" but you have to be really very careful because these simple words can have lots of totally unrelated meanings, even those that may not be attested by Wikipedia or Wiktionary. Also, while linking them, you should be mindful of MOS:OVERLINK. (Non-administrator comment) All the best, CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 10:47, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
For sure, I'm definitely aware of OVERLINK and I wasn't planning to link every mention, I'm just looking to introduce some consistency across linked and non-linked mentions across en-wp following the RM at Guna language. And yep, obviously context is key when determining whether the 'Kuna' or 'Cuna' in question is actually related to the Guna language and people, or whether it's another unrelated usage; the time that identifying this context will take is one of the main reasons why it's such a time-consuming task! 🥲 Pineapple Storage (talk) 12:29, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
 Done * Pppery * it has begun... 16:25, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

Hello again. I'd like AWB rights to fix typos in Category:All Wikipedia articles needing copy edit, especially the really common MOS:CURLY violations. I got denied last time for not having made enough edits but I now have made over 600 mainspace edits so I think this should be fine :) --cheesewhisk3rs (pester) 22:59, 28 June 2025 (UTC) --cheesewhisk3rs (pester) 22:59, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

Reason for requesting extended confirmed rights

My EC/XC status was suspended with extended conformed restriction due to a mistake in Special:Diff/1296492089. The status was removed by Star Mississippi, who said that I was welcome to reapply, after explaining myself, especially contradicting that I had won my status through gaming. After checking my editorial history, there was general agreement in the discussion that that was not the case. The discussion is located in: Jensenjan and WP:XC WP:GAMING I am now more careful with unintentionally wading into sensitive subjects and I continue to edit less controversial entries.I respectfully ask to have my EC/XC status reinstalled. Jensenjan (talk) 11:07, 26 June 2025 (UTC)

Automated comment This user has had this permission revoked in the past 180 days ([10]). MusikBot talk 11:10, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
I respectfully ask to have my EC status restored. The claim of gaming was unfounded and unfair and has been widely denounced by the group discussion. Jensenjan (talk) 06:02, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
I do support your case, but I don't think that "widely denounced" or "general agreement" are accurate. From a quick count, I see three suggesting it was not gaming (me, EscEscEsc, and Newslinger after they reconsidered) and three suggesting it was gaming (TarnishedPath, Bushranger, and Ravenswing). (Apologies if I misrepresented anyone's positions.) LordDiscord (talk) 13:55, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
This request should be declined. The claim "After checking my editorial history, there was general agreement in the discussion that that was not the case." is not consistent with the contents of the noticeboard discussion at WP:ANI § Jensenjan and WP:XC WP:GAMING. The editor who encouraged Jensenjan to reapply for this permission shortly after it was revoked gave poor advice, as they have also engaged in permission gaming. — Newslinger talk 18:28, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
Actually, as the discussion WP:ANI § LordDiscord's gaming of the extended confirmed permission concluded that the other editor was not permission gaming, I withdraw my opposition and now support Jensenjan's request for the extended confirmed permission. I do believe Jensenjan was editing in good faith, and the community has established that small edits, when constructive, do count toward the threshold for obtaining extended confirmed. — Newslinger talk 20:13, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
Has the community established that? That was a very brief discussion in the LordDiscord's thread, which was initially closed within 2 hours and with limited participation. TarnishedPathtalk 00:51, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
Dear TarnishedPath,
I do not understand why you again unfairly target me on the claim of gaming, which I was not. I am now at 581 edits, but if you look at my attempts to master inserting a picture with the correct caption into a gallery in the entry: Synagogue, you will see how many tries it took me to get the right, even wiping out the whole gallery on the way. That is part of learning, which I gladly do in order to improve Wikipedia. As I pointed out previously, I'm not a native English speaker, so sometimes I have to work on a sentence over and over again until it looks like good English. Please do not interfer again in the process to regain my rightful status as EC. I hope you receive this in the friendly and positive way in which it was written. Have a wonderful day. Just commenting that I have no input to add on the request and am fine with whatever the reviewing admin decides. Star Mississippi 02:33, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
Dear Star Mississippi,
How can I advance my request to recover my EC status? It seems to be stuck.
Thank you in advance for your kind help. Jensenjan (talk) 06:03, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
It will be reviewed when someone has time, which may be a while due to several bank holidays this week which may mean people are traveling or otherwise offline. There is no action you need to take @Jensenjan Star Mississippi 12:44, 30 June 2025 (UTC)

Done in light of Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive1192#LordDiscord's gaming of the extended confirmed permission. Mz7 (talk) 00:33, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
I am going to be honest: I completely failed to notice until just after I processed this request that that ANI discussion was about a completely different editor (LordDiscord and not Jensenjan). I don't think it is worth reversing my action, however, as multiple admins have expressed above that they are not strictly opposed to re-granting this right, especially in light of that discussion. I would give a word of caution to Jensenjan to edit carefully from here on out and to expect some heightened scrutiny of their initial edits to extended-confirmed-protected pages. Best, Mz7 (talk) 00:42, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
@Jensenjan to follow up on what @Mz7 said, I see Please do not interfer again in the process to regain my rightful status as EC. I now. You have no "rightful status", this is a volunteer project where editing is a privilege. Rights are earned and may be removed. Please be mindful of that as you edit. Star Mississippi 01:16, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
Thank you, Mz7. I am sure Jensenjan will make you all proud and we will see their exemplary work (as seen in Bornholm and other articles) in extended confirmed protected articles soon. LordDiscord (talk) 02:42, 1 July 2025 (UTC)
Dear LordDiscord,
Thank you for your encouraging words. Jensenjan (talk) 03:04, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

Can I have EC because my alt has it too. I thought confirmed was enough but I want EC too. Proof so I don't have to confirm again. --Anti-pro-air (talk) 22:29, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

Done. I've gone ahead and also revoked the confirmed user flag since your alt account is already autoconfirmed. Mz7 (talk) 00:42, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I'm requesting rights be extended after a one month trial. I would like to request permanent NPR rights if possible, as I have greatly enjoyed contributing in this capacity and I am eager to help reduce the backlog. Thanks! Halley luv Filipino ❤ (Talk) 00:23, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

I'm a patroller on the Hebrew Wikipedia with extensive experience in content review and Wikipedia policies. I am also familiar with English Wikipedia's guidelines and have been actively participating here, including contributing to article creation and quality control processes. I would like to contribute to New Page Patrol, mainly on topics related to Israel, Judaism, and Hungary, and I would be happy to expand my knowledge and activity into additional areas. Eliezer1987 (talk) 16:58, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

Not done, I'm not comfortable at this time giving you the NPP userright. Typically, on enwiki we do not consider cross-wiki experience especially in the context of en-wiki-specific-content heavy permission like NPP. The fact that you want to work on the currently "unstable" area of WP:PIA coupled with your lack of AFD participation and the fact that relatively recently created articles like Rafael Hayun use unreliable sources like Tiktok make this a no for now. Sohom (talk) 03:23, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

NPR temporary permissions set to expire within a week. Requesting extension or permanent permissions. I have not been as active in the NPR space as I'd like to be, being very busy with the AfC Backlog Drive. Regardless, thank you for your time! MWFwiki (talk) 21:23, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi there, my rights expire on the 30th and I would like to request an extension. I did ask a few weeks ago since I know of the perennial backlog here, but got rejected on the basis it was too early. I'm reapplying now since it's a little under a week until that happens. Aydoh8[what have I done now?] 23:34, 23 June 2025 (UTC)

Done, till Sept 2025, noting that an article structured like Julie Andrews (academic) could probably do with a bit of tagging in terms of prose improvements, but I don't see issues with core notability judgements. Sohom (talk) 03:12, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

I was granted reviewer rights for two times, both were temporary. I'm here requesting the right again to review the articles and make the burden less for others too. I was not active like before due to some personal issues, but I'm going to be active now. Please consider extending my rights. Thankyou Taabii (talk) 17:23, 25 June 2025 (UTC)

Hello there, this is my third time requesting new page reviewer permissions, as the previous two requests were granted on a one-month trial basis and the current trial will end on the 30th of June. I have learnt a lot about the policies for notability and inclusion and will be able to reduce the size of the unreviewed pages backlog significantly. Requests for pending changes reviewer

Pending changes reviewer

[edit]

Hello,

While patrolling the recent changes, I often run into pending changes. I think I am a good candidate for this permission because I already revert vandalism prolifically. I have read WP:RPC and whenever I revert something that's not blatant vandalism/a BLP violation, I always include an adequate edit summary, so I would also be able to tell which pending changes are low-quality good-faith edits and let them through (with amendments after, possibly). I also never engage in edit wars or abuse my rollback function. Spotemgottem (talk) 08:27, 29 June 2025 (UTC)

 Done Mz7 (talk) 00:54, 30 June 2025 (UTC)

I found a reviewable edit that was not good and had already been reverted the first time it was placed. I reverted the new version of it, since the edit was not following the Wikipedia guidelines. I think that I should have Reviewing pending changes rights, since I have experience with reverting vandalism and disruptive edits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Floating Orb (talkcontribs) 19:37, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

Requests for rollback

Rollback

[edit]

I’m a very active recent changes patroller, very comfortable identifying vandalism and using WP:TW to revert, warn, and report vandals. I’m careful to avoid using immediate revert unless the edit is obviously vandalism. Rollback would allow me to more efficiently fight very active vandals before an administrator is able to block them. I would still use WP:TW in most cases, for routine recent changes patrol. I’ve been using Twinkle to revert vandalism from recent changes and warn users for a while now. I’ve been doing this for about two years, with some breaks because of school and life, but I’ve stayed consistent overall. I know what counts as vandalism and what doesn’t, and I always try to assume good faith. I’d really appreciate rollback to help make reverting quicker and save time. I can be trusted with the tool and use it properly. Thank you, ItsCheck (talk) 01:05, 29 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi I am requesting rights to use the rollback feature as finding vandalism has actually been a very cool thing for me. I am requesting to be able so I don't have to undo multiple edits by spam-vandals, as I feel like it makes me kind of a spammer when I do this, and doing it all at once would be a great thing. I will admit that I had absolutely no idea that anyone could post warnings on talk pages, I thought that only admins and other experienced members who are given rights could do so. I just want to feel like less of a spammer when reverted edits, so I am requesting this rollback feature. Thanks, MakaylaHippo1998 MakaylaHippo1998 (talk) 05:55, 30 June 2025 (UTC)

Not done You are very lost; the correct place to request extended confirmed access is Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Extended confirmed, but extended confirmed access is almost never granted early and will be granted automatically once you make 30 more edits. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:25, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

"Do you want to take a survey?"

    [edit]

On Feb. 12, 2005, I did a random pages survey. Out of 100 random pages, only 1 was a U.S. town. That's progress. Three towns in the UK, 1 in Spain and 1 in Portugal also turned up. Overall biographies were the largest category at 22%, followed by geography with 15% total. Then Lists at 7%, Disambiguation pages at 6%.

On Feb. 24, 2006, I repeated the 100 random page survey, this time getting 5 U.S. towns. Overall, geography had 26%, biography 21%, fiction 9%, music 4%, colleges 4%, lists 3% and disambigs 4%. Clearly geography and biography are our largest areas. Music, science and business scored less than I expected. Non-individual History was hardly discernable.

Even by Feb. 2005, 100 out of almost 500,000 was not statistically significant but was as much as I had patience for.
