I grew up in Burtonsville, Maryland and went to Paint Branch High School. I later attended the University of Maryland, College Park where I joined Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. I hold a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Theatre from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and a master's degree in English with a concentration in Lingustics from East Carolina University.
