Template talk:Languages of the Philippines

Major Philippine languages?

[edit]

Does anyone has a list of the official regional languages? Are they still the 8 big languages? --Howard the Duck 12:40, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What are differents between the linked template and this template? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 00:45, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Liuxinyu970226 this template includes foreign and non-native languages that are also spoken here, such as Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, and Spanish. {{Philippine languages}}, on the other hand, only includes languages that originate here (Tagalog, Cebuano, et cetera). The clearer answer is the ones on the template are Philippine languages, a subgroup of Austronesian languages, which includes some languages spoken in Sulawesi. There are native languages that are not included in that language family, like the Sama–Bajaw languages. Howard the Duck (talk) 20:04, 22 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
