Should Final Fantasy Trading Card Game be added here? Mika1h (talk) 18:46, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Crouching lists, hidden characters

[edit]

Just wanted to mention that I made an attempt to retain the lists of FF characters that have their own articles after they were removed. I think they're a useful part of the navbox but I've always agreed that they take up an awful amount of space in the box and create a very lopsided load that's proportionate to how much attention an FF game has received. So I have put them into mw-collapsible 'div's. I would have liked to use a template to do this, but out of the several Divhide-style templates I tried, I could not find one that worked within a table like this, so I had to use slightly ugly HTML directly. Nevertheless it's not too hard to edit the markup. Hopefully people find this to be a good compromise on how to keep the character lists.

P.S. @Axem Titanium, sorry I removed your links with arrows pointing to the games with their own templates. You can add those back in if you like, though I wasn't totally sold on them :-) --17:44, 29 January 2023 (UTC) Iritscen (talk) 17:44, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Is it possible to specify something other than Show/Hide? Maybe +/-? I'm not objecting to the new implementation out of hand but I'm wondering if there are any accessibility concerns because of this. Axem Titanium (talk) 20:49, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
See template now. How does that look to you? --Iritscen (talk) 21:51, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Overall I don't mind it? Collapsed it looks perfect. When uncollapsed, it forces the character list to be on a new line, which increases the whitespace on the template. Is there a way to keep it in-line? That would help with opening and closing them quickly as well---currently the show and hide buttons shift around when they're toggled so it's impossible to toggle them quickly without moving the mouse. This is a minor concern overall, just a personal peeve. Axem Titanium (talk) 17:27, 30 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You make a good point. I wasn't sure why there was a linebreak being inserted before the list of characters, but it turns out it was my fault for using <div> instead of <span>. The show/hide button moves less now, but unfortunately I think it's inevitably always going to move somewhat because of the addition of more content centered on the same line. --Iritscen (talk) 03:52, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Much better than before at least! I don't have any further concrete objections but if anyone is an expert on accessibility (screen readers, etc.) and could weigh in on that, that would be great. Axem Titanium (talk) 23:14, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

There seems to be a problematic WP:CENSORSHIP issue within this template leading to fans deleting any form of related but unofficial Final Fantasy media, even if notable. Is there an actual Wikipedia policy banning such things from being added to navigation, or is it just an issue of vehement fans not wanting their series to be "tarnished"? I am unaware of any such policy blocking related things from navboxes - all WP:NAVBOX states is that "the articles should refer to each other, to a reasonable extent". ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 00:37, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not aware of any policy of this kind and I'm not intrinsically opposed to it, but you would need to seek consensus for inclusion, just like anything else. Complaining about fans and censorship is not a convincing reason for inclusion to me. Axem Titanium (talk) 07:01, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dark Mode

[edit]

This template does not look proper in dark mode. Is it a common error or specific to this template? MK8 (talk) 22:20, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
