Fire Emblem Shadows[b] is a 2025 social deduction strategy video game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for Android and iOS. It is the second mobile spin-off of the Fire Emblem series following Fire Emblem Heroes (2017). Unlike Heroes, the game forgoes the series' traditional tactical role-playing gameplay in favor of multiplayer social deduction and features a fully original cast of characters. The game was announced and released on September 25, 2025.
Plot
[edit]The game is split into light and shadow stories. The player can progress each story by playing multiplayer battles. Serving either the divine dragon Naga or the dark goddess Fenris, Prince Kurt of the fallen Kingdom of Ast sets out to rebuild his kingdom alongside allies Gotthold, Carina, and Alberta.
Gameplay
[edit]A first in the series, Shadows features real time strategy gameplay with social deduction elements. In multiplayer battles, three players work together against an enemy with one player secretly serving the goddess of shadows, who can secretly attack their allies. After combat, players must vote on who they believe is the shadow-aligned player, with guesses granting health depending on accuracy. Victory is decided on whether the players can defeat the shadow-aligned player in combat.[1][2]
Release
[edit]The game was revealed and immediately released on September 25, 2025 in over 70 countries.[3] Its release was unpredecented, as it was the first mobile game to be released by Nintendo in six years since the 2019 release of Mario Kart Tour, not counting Pikmin Bloom and the Pokémon games which were licensed.[4]
