Just to explain why I added a COI tag to both the article and talk page, a user (Risinglms) with a formally declared paid COI related to the firm RisingLMS and its "partners" heavily edited this article in May 2024. According to the RisingLMS website, an organization called BCBA NOW is one of its partners. When you visit the BCBA NOW website and click on the "Visit Main Website" link on the upper right of the page, you're redirected to the website for Data Makes the Difference, which claims they've been endorsed by and "work closely with" Mark Sundberg, one of the developers of VB-MAPP. More specifically, they developed an app version of the VB-MAPP. This seems like a pretty clearcut case of conflicted editing to me.
I have left a message on Risinglms' talk page and will give them a reasonable amount of time to respond both there and here. Just as an important and helpful reminder to any other editors reading this, if you have a close personal or professional affiliation with an article subject, it is rarely appropriate for you to be directly editing said article (even if you have formally declared that conflict). In general, the appropriate thing to do is to formally declare the conflict on your user page and then propose edits to unconflicted editors on the article's talk page. That does not appear to have been done in this case. DoItFastDoItUrgent (talk) 07:27, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
After approximately one week, Risinglms has not responded to the message I left on their user talk page or the discussion here on the article talk page. Due to this non-response, I have left a formal paid-editing warning on their talk page, which cautions them not to make any further edits to Wikipedia without responding. If anyone notices Risinglms editing this or any other Wikipedia article without formally addressing this issue first, please engage with them directly or bring it to the attention of an administrator. Thank you. DoItFastDoItUrgent (talk) 15:33, 20 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @DoItFastDoItUrgent and editors, I’ve responded on my user talk page as well, but I wanted to note here that I thought I had already added the disclosure on my user page and when working on EESA draft article. I now see I hadn’t included the paid tag correctly when I made some updates to this article. My user page has been updated with the full paid disclosure (RisingLMS as employer; Data Makes the Difference as client). I understand the COI and will no longer make direct edits here - I’ll propose any future changes on this Talk page using the Edit Request with reliable sources.
