Adding an extra topic

[edit]

I think it would improve wikipedia if you added an extra catagory describing every day life for different countries and places in the world ( including every day life for religions). 2A00:23C6:5505:A301:AD17:6008:DF95:1F9B (talk) 15:54, 16 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oriental Republic!!??

[edit]

That is obviously not the right translation of República Oriental del Uruguay. I changed it to Republic East of the Urugay, which is what it actually means. Gerard von Hebel (talk) 14:45, 2 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please discuss this. I have reverted this again! Gerard von Hebel (talk) 14:22, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinion or personal translation doesn't matter. The "Oriental Republic of Uruguay" is the official, and most commonly used, name of the country in English. Just visit the site of the Embassy of Uruguay to the United States] where you can clearly see it states "Ambassador Daniel Castillos assumed his post as Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to the United States in August 2025". There is absolutely no usage of "Republic East of the Uruguay" in English, either in media or official government sources. Cristiano Tomás (talk) 15:45, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request for assessment of new article: La Cadena de las Americas

[edit]

Ciao fellow Wikipedia editors. Perhaps if someone has extra time they might assess this new article La Cadena de las Americas (Network of the Americas)- which is currently unassessed. It describes the development of an international multimedia nonprofit radio network which resulted from a collaboration by William S. Paley, Edmund Chester and Nelson Rockefeller (Coordinator of the Office of Inter-American Affairs) on the CBS network in order to implement President Franklin D. Roosevelt's policy of Pan-Americanism and cultural diplomacy during World War II. It assumed a central role in his effort to overcome Nazi propaganda and misinformation in South America even during the early post war era. Enjoy and thanks in advance for your kind assistance! Is this article written in British or American English?

[edit]

So the maintenance tag at the top says use British English, but the editnotice on the page says the article uses American English. 2604:3D08:9476:BE00:943F:BBA4:468C:D3FB (talk) 06:54, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
