Rent control in the United States → Rent regulation in the United States – Change name to match the main article, rent regulation, as well as other articles such as Rent regulation in New York. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 08:01, 21 July 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. TarnishedPathtalk 08:27, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. The choice to use either "rent regulation" or "rent control" appears to be a WP:ENGVAR/WP:TIES issue, because we currently have article titles like Rent control in British Columbia and Rent control in Scotland whose variety of English do not the "match the main article". And while the State of New York may call it "rent regulation", it appears that other U.S. states call it "rent control", like Rent control in Massachusetts and Rent control in California. So I'd prefer to WP:RETAIN the status quo here. Zzyzx11 (talk) 17:06, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Bohemian Baltimore Oppose per Zzyzx11's reason. LoomCreek (talk) 20:52, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose - It's widely called rent control in English and you can see that from the sources; several dozen of the best sources call it "rent control" while only a single source uses "rent regulation." The former absolutely swamps the latter in ngrams and in something like Google Trends. If we felt a compelling need to force consistency here (I don't), I would argue it ought to be in the opposite direction. CoffeeCrumbs (talk) 21:37, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
