Orion Advisor Solutions is a privately held [1] financial technology and investment services company headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska. Established in 1999,[2] it develops portfolio accounting and reporting software and manages investment programs used by financial advisory firms. The company is majority-owned by private equity firms Genstar Capital and TA Associates.[3]
Overview
[edit]Orion Advisor Solutions is based in Omaha, Nebraska, with additional offices in several U.S. cities, including Berwyn, Pennsylvania; Sacramento, California, and Lehi, Utah.
The company was founded in 1999 to develop back-office technology for registered investment advisers and later added portfolio management systems and investment management services. Its operating divisions include Orion Advisor Technology and Orion Wealth Management.
As of June 2025, ThinkAdvisor reported that Orion oversaw about $5 trillion in assets under administration and $100 billion in platform assets.[4]
History
[edit]Orion Advisor Solutions began in 1999 as a software developer supporting CLS Investments, a registered investment adviser. The company introduced integrations with Salesforce CRM in 2010, web-based client portals in 2012, and a mobile application for advisory firms in 2013.
In 2015, private equity firm TA Associates acquired a majority stake in Orion.[5] Two years later, Orion released its Eclipse Trading system[6] and a compliance toolkit. In late 2017, it introduced Communities,[7] a peer marketplace for model portfolios.
In 2020, Genstar Capital joined TA Associates as an owner and led the merger of Orion with Brinker Capital.[8] Founder and long-time Chief Executive Officer Eric Clarke retired in 2023[9] and was succeeded by Natalie Wolfsen.[10] As of May 2023, Charles Goldman is chair of the board.[11]
