Red Hat
[edit]How come Red Hat is not here but Fedora is here? I would add some of th info, but I can't enter the tech info so I'm not spoiling other people's good work...
- It's just a list - most of the "tech info" here is propagandist (--------) that should be replaced by hard facts with Comparison of Linux distributions anyways. Therefore, just add it yourself. ¦ Reisio 09:44, 2005 August 18 (UTC)
- It's mentioned there. Look above commercial distributions. Jaalto 2005-11-24
(REDHAT is pay only, non-GNU, I would dare to say they are no longer a Linux Distro as a (wiki) dictionary defines it.)
Discontinued, now for sale
[edit]monomaxos.com was formerly a porn site, now for sale. This Ubuntu flavour is discontinued. Please remove link. --— Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.61.62.243 (talk • contribs) 22 feb 2020 02:00 (UTC)
is linux monolithic ?
[edit]linux is not monolithic it's modular it was one of the first popular modular kernels; which can be micro if the user desires. mach uses different file structs to talk to its parts and is written by different people - is it definitely different but not by much if talking about modularity alone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.219.207.23 (talk • contribs) 4 apr 2016 14:43 (UTC)
Updating the Distro Timeline
[edit]The timeline is old and should be updated. However, I have updated the image on the French Wikipedia which has its own file, and now the English Wikipedia doesn't let me update the file to the same file. So, what do we do?
Is Cachy really "non notable"?
[edit]It has almost 13,000 members on it's subreddit, 12,000 on it's Discord, and has received positive reviews by many bigger tech youtubers + has loads of benchmarks done for it. It also allows Fedora, Arch, and Endeavour users to use it's optimized kernels and was arguably the main inspiration for PikaOS, which is effectively the same thing as Cachy, but uses Debian as a base.
If Cachy isn't notable, then neither is Endeavour. LalaFortnite (talk) 16:29, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- This list article is for entries with standalone articles. Notability is not determined by the number of subreddit members or other similar numbers (WP:BIG), but rather by meeting relevant notability guidelines such as WP:GNG and Wikipedia:Notability (software)#Inclusion. CachyOS does not have an article because the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/CachyOS determined that it was not notable enough for a standalone article. If you believe that notability has changed and can now be established, the best route for that would be to create a draft at Draft:CachyOS and submit that draft at Wikipedia:Articles for creation to ensure it meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines. - Aoidh (talk) 04:32, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- I understand, thank you. LalaFortnite (talk) 06:53, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
