Sometimes things just creep in and there is just to many "extra" links in the WP:External links section. As a "B-class" article a tag should be avoided so please examine this section for trimming (or adding into the article to: 1)- conform to current practices (none is actually needed for article class advancement), 2)- as article improvement, and 3)- so this concern can be remedied without further action. If you read "Ordeal" carefully, you notice that she never says anything bad about pornography, or the porn industry, or the people she worked with, her co-stars, the directors. In fact she says nice things about them and seemed to like hanging out with them. Her entire beef is with Traynor. @Marbe166: This is an example of the structure editors should follow, from smallest to largest. It isn't meant to be interpreted literally (no boroughs, towns, or villages). I agree with Magnolia. In this case "city" just indicates locality, just the three levels of location. We should not include BOTH city and the neighborhood in the city, but if the person was born in a village, town or borough, we should name it. It would certainly not "throw the whole process upside down". For example, Margaret Thatcher was born in Grantham, and the IB rightly says so. In the case of Linda Lovelace, the edit was doubly wrong, as it eliminated the "administative region", which is New York State, so if the IB were to intend New York City, it should actually say "New York, New York, U.S." since New York City is a city in New York State. -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:02, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No. That is antithetical to the foundational principals that Wikipedia is about. Absolutely EVERYTHING is open to good faith interpretation. I don't know how you've been a regularly active editor for the last decade - including significant contributions at policy boards - with an attitude so hostile to the basic functioning of the site. But that absolutism needed to be taken out back and thrown in the wood chipper around spring of 2016, and the next best time is now. Like the details on most other parameters, the city, administrative region, country is guidance for how to generally format the information. When parameters are generally restricted from a certain type of information, you will see things like "only use...", or "this parameter is not for..." There is no meaningful reason to exclude boroughs of very large cities such as New York or London, and the template advice does not ask us to do so. "City, administrative region, country" is (quite obviously, to me, anyway) an example. Otherwise everyone born in a town or village would have no birthplace at all, which would be utterly ludicrous. I think that in a metropolis that has well known and distinct districts/boroughs/arrondissements/Bezirke/Stadtteile/barrios mentioning them in the infobox enhances the its information value for readers. "The Bronx, New York" is more succinct and conveys more information than "New York City, U.S." -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 00:32, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
