Talk:Hong Beom-do

This article is important, since Hong Beom-do was a leading figure in the Korean nationalist, anti colonialist and anarchist resistance movements. But -- it full of grammatical errors that render it unreadable.

That's a shame for such an important figure in Korean history.

Does anyone have the time to rewrite it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rutherfordlad (talkcontribs) 02:33, 3 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I will do my best to clean up the grammar and add more clarity. Yes, this is an important article about Hong Beom-do. Thank you for writing it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hongkyongnae (talkcontribs) 23:26, 3 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rough shape

[edit]

Article is in rough shape. Grammatical errors, hardly any sources, and factual errors. seefooddiet (talk) 04:27, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hong Beom-doHong PŏmdoHong Pŏmdo – MR per WP:KOREANNAME.

No results for any variations of any spellings in ngrams. Note that if you search Google and Google scholar, you should exclude academic papers from South Korea that are primarily written in the Korean language. See WP:KO/RS#Scholarly literature; these papers have English translated titles and summaries that are often really poorly written, by non-native English speakers.

The vast majority of English-language academic literature covering Hong will use McCune–Reischauer. grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 19:02, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Weak oppose - the majority of recent news coverage on him appears to prefer Hong Beom-do.[1][2][3][4]
While academic sources may prefer the MR, I think the RR rendering may be a lot more recognizable to the modern-day English audience than the former. -- 00101984hjw (talk) 23:11, 15 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
