Ciprian Panait is a Romanian football coach with a distinguished international career, known for his tactical expertise and leadership across top clubs in the Middle East. His most impactful chapter came at Al Hilal FC in Saudi Arabia—one of Asia’s most successful clubs—where he served in multiple key roles over several years.
As head coach of Al Hilal’s U21 team, Panait led the side to two national championships, solidifying the club’s dominance at youth level. In 2017, he was appointed caretaker manager of the senior team, guiding Al Hilal through a crucial stage of the AFC Champions League. His calm presence and clear tactical direction under pressure earned him recognition for maintaining the club’s high-performance standards in continental competition.
Following his time at Al Hilal, Panait went on to manage several clubs in the Saudi Professional League, including Al-Raed and Al-Batin, where he brought structure and professionalism to squads in need of competitive transformation. In 2019, he was appointed head coach of FC Sohar in Oman, becoming the highest-paid manager in the club’s history and introducing a modern, disciplined playing philosophy. He later took charge of Al-Kharaitiyat in Qatar, further expanding his international footprint.
Panait is highly regarded for his ability to lead multicultural teams, with a coaching style rooted in discipline, clarity, and player development. Fluent in several languages and experienced in high-stakes environments, he continues to be a reference for Romanian coaches working abroad.
In addition to his coaching career, he currently serves as Technical Director of the Romanian Padbol Federation, where he oversees the development and certification of coaches in the emerging sport. He is also a university lecturer at the National University of Physical Education and Sport (UNEFS) in Bucharest and holds a PhD in Physical Education, with his research focused on the biological and physical profiling of elite footballers.
