How to add official website for chutney music
[edit]Hello I represent chutneymusic.com and we wouldlike to be recognized as the official website for chutney music and we are will to maintain the integrity of the page. How can we assist?Djfloopstt (talk) 18:03, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[1]
- Hi Djfloopstt,
- a music genre cannot have an "official website", that'd be like asking to be an "official website" for rock music. If your website (that doesn't seem to load, just tried) contains relevant information that's not present in the article, it can be used as either a source for specific information under "References", or as a general information source under "Weblinks".

Please check it again lots of citable content for this wiki and indian related music
- Hi Djfloopstt,
- that's a private Wordpress blog, and the "articles" are stolen from various news sources such as the Trinidad Express. No further discussion necessary.

Possible AI-generated content
[edit]Hi -- I've added this tags specifically in response to edits by above mentioned student editor Special:Contributions/Bensmith.18, which display many common AI tells. Gnomingstuff (talk) 11:40, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
Resolved: I've removed all content added by the user in question. LifeofTau 15:10, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
Unreliable sources
[edit]The recent dispute about AI-generated content should be reframed as introducing unreliable sources. Among the unreliable sources are the following:
- https://caribbeanhindustani.org/language/ – no author listed
- https://globalindiannetwork.com/history-of-chutney-music/ by blogger Komala Rudra
- https://www.peepultree.world/livehistoryindia/story/living-culture/how-bhojpuri-founded-chutney-music-in-the-caribbean by musician Yash Mishra
- https://ttmusiclibrary.com/instruments/ by Mika
- https://thebetterindia.com/60362/chutney-soca-indo-caribbean-music-fusion-bhojpuri/ by Nishi Malhotra
- https://chutneymusic.com/drupatee-ramgoonai/ by Sangeeta D’Songstar
The author named Mika is not identifiable as a musicologist or music expert. The author named Yash Mishra is an Indian musician but the publishing platform he chose was the retail website peepultree.world which is not considered reliable. The author Komala Rudra is a blogger with no expertise in music. The page at caribbeanhindustani.org has no listed author which means it cannot be assessed as reliable. The author Nishi Malhotra is a professional writer and editor, not a musicologist, and the blogging platform she published on is not considered reliable. The author Sangeeta D’Songstar is a chutney musician but not a musicologist or music critic.
All of this should be removed along with dependent text.
A problem with WP:SYNTH was already present in the article with the source https://www.nalis.gov.tt/Resources/Subject-Guide/Indian-Arrival-Day which has no mention of the topic here, no mention of Chutney music. As well, some unsupported assertions have been in the article such as naming the Awadhi language which is not found in sources. Anything like this should be removed.
