Talk:Autism Science Foundation

POV-Section

[edit]

Added the POV-section for the Formation section. There appears to be some editorializing regarding Dr. Wakefield going on there, in addition to [citation needed] (beginning with, "However in 2012 a British court..."). --128.83.248.203 (talk)

Major article cleanup

[edit]

Hopefully, this is the last time I have to do what I would describe as a major cleanup of this particular article.

Just as a helpful piece of advice to any future editors of this article, always cite your work. Uncited content will be summarily removed. There is absolutely no excuse to add a new claim to this article and not cite it. If you're unsure of how to cite a source or what constitutes an acceptable source, see this Wikipedia policy page. If you are unable or unwilling to add a citation, don't bother making your edit in the first place. It is not the obligation of other editors to hunt down citations for you or to otherwise clean up your messes.

Also, do your best to make sure that any content you add accurately reflects the content in the sources you are citing. I have come across quite a few claims or statements when cleaning up this article in recent months that exaggerate what a source said, add on to what a source said or otherwise misrepresent what a source said. Even when such misrepresentation is inadvertent, it compromises the quality of Wikipedia.

For any editors who may be wondering why I made certain edits in this latest cleanup attempt, I'll summarize below anything I couldn't squeeze into the edit summary.

  • The claim that Alison Singer joined the National Council on Severe Autism in 2019 was irrelevant trivia. This information is rightly included in the article about Singer, herself; but, it is in no way relevant to the history of the Autism Science Foundation. Additionally, the sentence incorrectly stated that Singer announced she had joined the organization, despite the fact that the cited source was not written by Singer and did not quote her.
  • The "awards" section did not include any information on actual awards received by the Autism Science Foundation. Instead of renaming it, I deleted it entirely. Regarding the first claim in the section, the organization being named a "top nonprofit startup" is irrelevant trivia. The organization was founded in 2009; as I'm typing this, it's 2025. Additionally, the cited link was permanently dead and no longer verifiable. Regarding the second claim in the section about the organization earning "top-rated status," it was overly promotional in tone and was completely uncited.

Again, please take care to cite your work and to do your best not to misrepresent what any particular source has said. Happy editing. DoItFastDoItUrgent (talk) 20:38, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
