Proposed merge of Hachimoji DNA into Artificially Expanded Genetic Information System

Hachimoji and AEGIS come from the same NASA-funded project, from the same NASA-funded lab (Benner), and uses the same newly designed bases. The difference between them is that "Hachimoji" is the subset they used when they made the news. Artoria2e5 🌉 12:27, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I should note that Rowan Forest mentioned the same on the Hajimochi page six years ago and believed that AEGIS should be merged into Hachimoji. However, if you check the recent works from Bener on Google Scholar, he appears still committed to the AEGIS acronym and in one case the whole 12-letter complement https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-42406-z.
