Introduction changes

[edit]

Hello editors, I'd like to propose some changes to the article's Introduction. I suggest replacing the current introduction with the following:

Amdocs (Hebrew: אמדוקס) is a multinational telecommunications technology company. Headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, the company specializes in software and services for communications, media and financial services providers and digital enterprises. Amdocs was founded in Israel and is publicly traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange.
  • Reasons: This consolidates the company description at the start, removes "with support and development centers located worldwide" since that seems a bit promo for the introduction, and changes Chesterfield to St. Louis to match the article body.

Let me know what you think, I welcome any thoughts or feedback. As always, because I am making this request as part of my work for Beutler Ink on behalf of Amdocs, I will not make direct edits. Cheers! BINK Robin (talk) 21:21, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@BINK Robin: How about this, where the nationality is in the first sentence, as is standard, and the year of founding is mentioned:
Amdocs (Hebrew: אמדוקס) is an Israeli multinational telecommunications technology company. Headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, the company specializes in software and services for communications, media and financial services providers and digital enterprises. Amdocs was founded in 1982 and is publicly traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 22:10, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done as discussed. BINK Robin, for future reference, the {{Reply to}} and other pinging methods will only work if your signature is added in the same edit. Israeli?

[edit]

How is it an Israeli company today? HQ in the states; bought out more than 30 years ago by an American conglomerate… Explain in the article what qualifies Amdocs as Israeli please. — TadgStirkland401 (TadgTalk) 04:16, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removed the unnecessary attribution to being an Israeli company until someone can find a reliable source that states otherwise. — TadgStirkland401 (TadgTalk) 09:44, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article updates

[edit]

Hello, as part of my work for Beutler Ink on behalf of Amdocs, I have a few updates to propose for this article. Because of my conflict of interest, I will not make direct edits without explicit permission from volunteer editors.

  • In the Infobox, I suggest removing the increase / decrease arrows.
  • Reason: They require additional maintenance, have no context without the previous year's figures they're referring to, and could be misinterpreted as indicating an amount of increase or decrease.
  • I've prepared a version of the Infobox without the arrows in the collapse box below

  • Reason: Acquiring Solect was a significant milestone in the company's expansion into internet billing
  • Reason: General update to recent history
  • Reason: adds additional context on what applications the company is using its generative AI to do.
  • Remove the Companies acquired section
  • Reason: This was recently added without sourcing. During article cleanup last year, editors felt it was more appropriate to include significant acquisitions as prose in History to avoid having a long list of them in the article.
