Ramonnya Nikaya

Ramonnya Nikaya, Gaing Rāmañña Nikāya (Mon: ဂိုဏ်ရာမညနိကာယ) or Rāmañña Nikāya Gaing (Burmese: ရာမညနိကာယဂိုဏ်း) is a Mon-ethnic monastic order of Theravāda Buddhism in Myanmar. The Mon Sangha had taken the name Rāmañña Nikāya since the arrival of Tipiṭaka and their nikāya structure was formalized in 1920.^[1] Currently, the Rammonya Nikaya is not included in the nine legally recognized monastic sects (gaṇa) and the monks are de jure members of Thudhamma Gaing, Shwegyin Gaing, and Mahayin Gaing.^[2] In 2021 and 2022, famous Mon sayadaws and the New Mon State Party requested the State Administration Council government to grant the official recognition.^[1]
