Trev's Trades is an award-winning soap-making business based in Paso Robles, California, founded in 2021 by Trevor Dealy and his mother, Tia. Dealy was born at 26 weeks—a very early preterm birth—and has multiple disabilities, including autism, Crohn's disease, sensory processing disorder, and epilepsy. The company was created to provide him with skill-building employment and a pathway to independence.[1][2]

Trev’s Trades has been recognized in regional media and by disability entrepreneurship organizations for its products, community fundraising, and social impact.[3][4]

History

[edit]

Trev’s Trades began as part of a search for meaningful employment and skill-building opportunities after Dealy aged out of traditional school supports. Founded in 2021 by Trevor Dealy, then 21, and his mother, Tia, the company was a way to help him develop vocational and life skills through project-based learning.[1] Early production began in the family home and expanded to local markets and online sales.[1]

Products

[edit]

The company produces handcrafted soap using bases such as coconut oil and goat milk, scented with essential oils and natural plant dyes.[1] As the Paso Robles Press reported: “Through his soap-making business, Trevor channels his creativity into crafting high-quality, all-natural soaps while gaining independence and purpose. Each soap is made by hand, with Trevor managing the entire process from ideation to packaging.”[2] Products are sold locally and shipped to customers throughout the United States.[1]

Community impact and fundraising

[edit]

Trev’s Trades has organized and contributed to fundraising efforts for adaptive sports programs in San Luis Obispo County, including the “Adopt a Bulldog” campaign that raised $1,700 for the North County Adaptive Sports and Recreation Program in 2025, exceeding its original $500 goal.[5][2]

Recognition

[edit]

In January 2021, Trev’s Trades was profiled on KTLA’s Link Up with Lynette segment in Los Angeles, which highlighted Dealy’s fundraiser that raised more than $13,000 to help build a Lakewood Little League dugout in Cerritos, California.[3] In 2023, Dealy received the Synergies Work EDDIE Newcomer Award, which honors innovative entrepreneurs with disabilities.[4][6]
