Travel Village Group is a travel agency based in Blackpool, England. Its brands include The Travel Village, The Holiday Village, Southampton Cruise Centre and RiverCruising.co.uk. It offers cruises, holidays and other travel services in the UK and overseas.[1]

History

[edit]

The company was founded as Bourne Travel in 1959 by Eric Capey Bourne in Blackpool.[2] It later opened Savensail, which was one of the first cruise-only high street travel agencies in the UK.[3] The business later became The Cruise Village and then Travel Village Group.

In the 2000s and 2010s, the group set up new brands including The Travel Village, The Holiday Village, Southampton Cruise Centre and RiverCruising.co.uk.[4]

In 2024, it marked its 65th anniversary and introduced training academies for its team.[5] Chief executive Phil Nuttall has commented in trade press on issues including team workload and conference scheduling.[6][7] He and director Paula Nuttall were profiled in a TTG Media interview about running the family business.[8]

Operations

[edit]

Travel Village Group is based in Blackpool and has a team of around 140 people across the UK.[9] It is part of the Midcounties Co-operative Travel Consortium[10] and is a member of ABTA (number P6710).[11]

The group offers cruises, package holidays and tailor-made trips through its brands. It has added digital booking systems and automation tools.[12]

Technology

[edit]

Travel Village Group has introduced ecommerce and back-office automation. In 2024–2025, it worked with suppliers to link Dreamlake cruise bookings into Vertical Systems' vTarsc system. Group e-commerce manager Lewis Johnston said this had "noticeably improved the efficiency of [the] after-sales process".[13][14] It also set up a dedicated river cruise website using TProfile tools.[15]

Brands

[edit]

The Travel Village is the group's retail travel agency in Blackpool. It has featured in the TTG Top 50 Travel Agencies.[16]

The Holiday Village is a homeworking brand with a team of travel consultants across the UK. It won 'Top Homeworking Agency (Small)' at the TTG Top 50 Travel Agencies 2025.[17]

Southampton Cruise Centre is a cruise-focused brand. In 2023 it relaunched its website for online cruise bookings and was named the UK & Ireland's Top Cruise Agency at the TTG Top 50 Travel Agencies awards.[18]

RiverCruising.co.uk is the group's river cruise brand. It was named 'Top River Cruise Agency' at the TTG Top 50 Travel Agencies in 2022[19] and was quoted in Forbes' list of the best European river cruises for 2025.[20]
