The Structured Finance Association (SFA) is the trade association for institutional participants, including lenders and investors, in the structured finance industry in the United States.[1][2][3][4][5][6] SFA leads 35 committees and task forces consisting of industry leaders to manage the various policy topics that affect the structured finance industry, including Basal III, residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS),[7] auto loans[8], and the rulemaking process of the federal executive branch.[9]
Since January 2019, SFA has been led by CEO Michael Bright, the former Chief Operating Officer and acting president of the Government National Mortgage Association ("Ginnie Mae").[10] Bright frequently speaks on behalf of SFA in policy commentary to the news media.[11][12][13]
Annual Events
[edit]SFA convenes annual events across North America to bring together industry leaders to network and discuss a variety of topics. Current annual events include:
- SFVegas: A three-and-a-half day convention and the largest structured finance capital markets conference in the world[14] held at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas that attracts investors, issuers, regulators, law firms, accounting firms, tech firms, rating agencies, and servicers.[15][16][17] In 2024, the event attracted 8,200 attendees, over 250 speakers, over 175 sponsors and exhibitors[18] and featured keynote speakers like Securities and Exchange (SEC) commissioner Hester Peirce and former Director of the National Economic Council Gary Cohn.[19] In 2025, 10,000 attendees gathered for the convention.[20][21]
- SFACanada: A one-day convention held at The Arcadian in Toronto.[18] In 2024, representatives from SFA celebrated SFCanada 2024 by opening the Toronto Stock Exchange.[22]
- WiS (Women in Securitization) Week: A week featuring events in cities across North America dedicated to providing education and other resources to help women network and advance within the structured finance industry.[23]
