Terravore is a Bulgarian old-school thrash/death metal band formed in Varna in early 2015. Founded by Kalin Buchvarov (bass, vocals; also of Mass Cremation) and Ivan Lazarov (guitars, backing vocals; from Abductor and ex-Nema Labavo), the project initially had a different name before adopting Terravore following the addition of Trendafil Trendafilov (drums), previously of Mass Cremation and Mental Disorder.
History
Formation (2015): The band formed in spring 2015 in Varna. After solidifying the lineup with Trendafil Trendafilov, they launched full-scale rehearsals and began performing locally.
Debut EP – Apocalyptic Impact (2016): Recorded in early 2016 and released as a mini-album by Terozin Mag and Tapes in March, this was promoted through Bulgarian tours, including one supporting the Greek thrash band Warhammer.
Subsequent Touring and Releases (2017–2019): In 2017, Terravore released the full-length Unforeseen Consequences (Spectrum of Death) and toured nationally, including playing shows with Suicidal Angels in Sofia. In early 2018, Boiko Nikolaev joined as lead/second guitarist, and the band continued to play in multiple tours and festivals across Bulgaria and beyond.
Vortex of Perishment (2020): Recorded and later released by Punishment 18 Records, the album showcased the band’s blend of classic thrash energy and death metal intensity.
Latest Album – Spiral of Downfall (2024): Released in March 2024 via Punishment 18 Records, the album is a full-length, 10-track thrash assault. It was recorded at Playground Studio in Varna (Jan–Mar 2024), featuring production by Georgy Zhelyazkov and artwork by Anton Atanasov. The track 'Nostromo' includes guest vocals by Simona Stoyanova of Second to None.
Musical Style and Influences
Terravore’s sound is rooted in old-school thrash/death metal, drawing influence from bands such as Demolition Hammer, Kreator, Death, Sodom, and Sepultura. Reviews describe their music as energetic and melody-infused thrash, with dual guitars and aggressive vocals recalling classic acts like Overkill, Anthrax, and Slayer.
Notability and Presence
Terravore has established itself on the Eastern European thrash/death metal scene through consistent album output and live performances. They’ve shared the stage with international acts like Kreator, Suicidal Angels, Nervosa, Bio-Cancer, Chronosphere, Goatwhore, Testament, and more. Their recordings garner attention in niche metal outlets, and they've become a recognized name within the Bulgarian and broader underground thrash community.
