Tellius, Inc. is a software company that develops an AI-powered analytics platform combining conversational AI, agentic workflows, and automated insights for business analysis.[1][2]
Tellius originated from Khanna’s idea of marrying AI/ML-driven automation with a natural language data query interface[3]. Khanna describes Tellius in his own words as “an AI-powered analytics and decision intelligence platform that enables anyone, regardless of skill, to quickly ask and answer ‘what’, ‘why’, and ‘how’ questions of their granular data [4].
History
[edit]Tellius was founded in 2016 by Ajay Khanna.[5] Prior to Tellius, Khanna served as CTO and a founding member of Celcite Management Solutions, which Amdocs agreed to acquire in 2013 for approximately $129 million.[6][7][8]
The company emerged from stealth in 2018 and later introduced a SaaS deployment option alongside its on-premises offering.[9] In 2021, VentureBeat reported on Live Insights, a feature that surfaces automated drivers and anomalies directly on cloud data warehouses without moving data.[10]
Funding
[edit]Tellius has raised multiple rounds of venture funding. The company secured a $7.5 million Series A in 2018, an $8 million follow-on in 2021, and a $16 million Series B in 2022 led by Baird Capital, bringing total funding to about $33 million.[11][12][13][14]
Technology
[edit]Industry coverage describes the Tellius platform as combining natural-language querying with automated, ML-driven diagnostics to explain metric changes and suggest drivers across large datasets; cloud data warehouse “live” analysis has also been highlighted.[15][16]
Recognition
[edit]In 2019, editors covering Gartner's research named Tellius among the “Cool Vendors in Analytics.”[17] Media summaries of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics & Business Intelligence Platforms placed Tellius in the Visionaries quadrant in 2022[18], 2023[19], 2024[20], and 2025 *.
