StoneBridge School is a private Christian school located in Chesapeake, Virginia, United States. It provides education from preschool through 12th grade and incorporates a historical, biblical approach to learning.

History

[edit]

The school was established in 1980 by a group of parents and educators interested in the Principle Approach®, an educational philosophy and methodology rooted in the historic American Christian education and which emphasizes the value of each individual and the importance of personal self-government under God,[1] and is a demonstration school for the Principle Approach.[2]

Campus and Programs

[edit]

The school operates on a 12.5-acre campus that includes academic buildings, science labs, art rooms, athletic fields, and facilities for fine arts instruction. It is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and is a member of the Virginia Council for Private Education (VCPE).[3]

The curriculum includes classical education elements such as logic, rhetoric, and notebook-based learning. Instruction is designed to integrate biblical themes with academic content, and students complete a senior thesis project prior to graduation. Extracurricular offerings include athletics, such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, and track, as well as visual and performing arts programs. The school is cited in Practicing What the Doctor Preached, a study of evangelical education, as an example of a private religious institution selected by families seeking faith-based instruction. [4]
