On 4 July 2012, Seddon drove to their suburban home in Sale, Greater Manchester to shoot them with a sawn-off shotgun. He was sentenced on 28 March 2013[4] and given a life sentence with a minimum of 40 years. Seddon denied committing the murders.[5][6][7]

After being found guilty of murder, Seddon's inheritance was denied and it was instead given to his cousins.[8]

Biography

[edit]

Stephen Seddon grew up in Timperley's Bromwood Estate, his parents provided him with everything they could. By the age of 13, he begun burgling houses and stealing cars. In 1999, he was arrested and charged with fraud. Following his release, he worked a number of sales jobs. He became increasingly dependent on his parents for cash after being sacked from his sale job.

Despite his parents giving him thousands of pounds, Seddon planned to murder them to get their inheritance. On 20 March 2012, he attempted to murder his parents and his nephew, Daniel in a staged car crash. On 4 July 2012, he drove to their home and shot them with a sawn-off shotgun. He placed the shotgun in his father's lap to make it appear as though his father had shot his wife and then committed suicide.[9][10]
