Royan Institute

Royan Institute (Persian: پژوهشگاه رویان; “Royan” means “embryo” in Persian) is an Iranian public non-profit research and educational institute affiliated with the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research. Established in 1991 by Saeid Kazemi Ashtiani, it focuses on biomedical research, translational medicine, stem-cell research, infertility treatment, and clinical studies.^[1]

The institute publishes two international, peer-reviewed journals: the quarterly Cell Journal (impact factor 3.128 in 2022)^[2] and the International Journal of Fertility and Sterility (IJFS)^[3]. In addition, Royan has contributed to over 600 scientific publications, 14 books in Persian and English, and holds 26 patents registered in Iran.

Research Institutes

Royan Institute is organized into three specialized research institutes located in Tehran and Isfahan, each focusing on a distinct area of biomedical science.
