- Comment: Thanks for contributing to the Wikipedia, but I'm afraid an episode of a TV show with only one review is not notable - you need significant coverage by multiple independent reliable sources and this is just one source. The other source is just the ratings for TV that night and doesn count as significant coverage. If you read /Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Television#Article_splitting you'll see that in the third paragraph it says you shouldn't create separate pages for episodes if there's not clear notability for the episode - if there are only one or two reviews that's not enough and the episode should be described in the main article for the TV show instead. "Paraders of the Lost Float" is the twenty-first episode of the seventh season of the animated comedy series Bob's Burgers and the overall 128th episode, and is written by Steven Davis and directed by Bernard Derriman. It aired on Fox in the United States on May 21, 2017. In the episode, In the episode, when the forecast predicts rain on the day of the annual Bog to Beach parade, Teddy convinces Bob to enter the float contest with the promise of an easy win due to lack of competition, however, Bob's business rival Jimmy Pesto decides to enter the float contest as well, putting the Belchers' plan under threat.
Plot
[edit]One day before the city holds the annual Bog to Beach parade, Teddy runs into the restaurant and offers Bob the lucrative opportunity to enter the parade float contest using a borrowed float frame from a friend who dropped out. Bob is initially reluctant but agrees after Teddy informs the Belchers that, due to a rainy forecast, all but four contestants cancelled their participation while there is a cash prize guaranteed for the top five parade floats, including $500 for the fifth place.
The Belcher family remodels the float to be burger-themed, including homemade pickle costumes designed by Linda and T-shirt cannons borrowed by Teddy, who is also driving the float from inside. However, as the parade kicks off the next day, it turns out that Jimmy Pesto entered the contest with his family as well after previously taking a notice of Bob's preparations. Since there are now six floats and only five prizes, this threatens Bob’s plan to coast into last place, making him increasingly worried.
Tension between Bob and Jimmy Pesto escalates further during the parade, when Jimmy Pesto mocks Bob and then damages the Belcher float’s signage. Bob retaliates with a T-shirt cannon, turning the parade into a personal war. Tina and Jimmy Jr. try to stay neutral, but their fathers’ rivalry forces them to take sides. After Jimmy Pesto comes up with a scheme to bribe judges with pizza, Bob decides to take the matter into his own hands and orders Teddy to take a shortcut to the finish line so Bob can give the judges his burgers first. The float leaves the main parade route, to the disappointment of the rest of the family, but this quickly turns into a disaster, as Bob misreads directions, causing a boat to get lost and then stuck behind a traffic barricade not too far away from the finish line.
Linda and the kids abandon Bob’s obsessive quest and rejoin the parade on foot, embracing the fun they have been missing for the entire time. Bob, refusing to give up, rams the barricade to get back on the route. However, that renders the float motionless, leaving Bob to watch his family enjoy the parade without him. After realizing that his fixation on beating Jimmy Pesto cost him the joy of the life experience, Bob asks Teddy to turn up the music and he joins the parade party from afar. When Linda, kids, and the rest of the people notice, they push Bob's float to the finish line, winning the judge's heart, who awards it the fifth place over Jimmy Pesto's float.
Bob and Linda embrace, Tina and Jimmy Jr. make peace, while everybody else joins together in a fun dance, ignoring Teddy's worries about the cost of fixing his friend's broken parade float.
Reception
[edit]The episode received a 0.8 rating and was watched by a total of 1.61 million people.[1]
Alasdair Wilkins from The A.V. Club gave the episode a "B", calling it "a worthy way to wrap up another solid, fun season" and "very much a back-to-basics sort of episode, keeping the focus square on Bob and his quixotic effort to make just the tiniest bit of money for the restaurant, all while the rest of his family wants to goof off and Jimmy Pesto is there to thwart him at every turn." He also added, "It’s a simple, straightforward kind of episode, with more than enough laughs along the way as we see each new outlandish obstacle the cosmos has thrown at Bob. There are other episodes from this season I would point to as examples of the show at its current best—“Bob Actually” in particular was one of the very best episodes of television 2017 has yet given us. But an episode like “Paraders Of The Lost Float” is as good a reminder as any of what made me fall in love with this show way back in January 2011, and why I’m nowhere near done with this sweet, funny, delightfully show."[2]
Jeffrey Malone from Bubbleblabber also gave the episode a positive review, rating the episode a 7.5 out of 10, calling it "a referendum on fun" and noting that it is "worth watching for the bounteous, joyful design put into the parade."[3]
