Submission declined on 16 May 2025 by Chaotic Enby (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

With a background in accounting, Turner has held several significant positions across various aviation organisations.(TrueNoord)
Early Career and British Midland Airways
[edit]Turner began his tenure at British Midland Airways in 1994, initially serving as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He ascended to the role of CEO in late 2004, succeeding Sir Michael Bishop. During his leadership, Turner spearheaded strategic initiatives aimed at revitalising the airline's operations. In 2002, he oversaw the launch of bmibaby, a low-cost subsidiary designed to compete with emerging budget carriers. Additionally, Turner implemented significant changes to bmi's short-haul services, including transitioning to a no-frills model and reducing business-class offerings to enhance competitiveness .(Jet Back In Time, The Guardian)
Turner's tenure was marked by both innovation and challenges. While his strategic shifts aimed to adapt to a changing aviation landscape, they also faced internal scrutiny. In 2009, Turner stepped down as CEO but continued to contribute to the company as Deputy Chairman until 2012.
Subsequent Roles and Industry Contributions
[edit]Following his departure from bmi, Turner continued to influence the aviation sector through various leadership roles. He served as Deputy Chairman of Jetscape, a U.S.-based aircraft leasing firm . In 2016, he was appointed Non-Executive Chairman of TrueNoord, a regional aircraft leasing company, where he played a pivotal role in guiding the company's strategic direction.
Turner also held directorships at several prominent aviation organisations, including a 13-year tenure on the board of NATS (National Air Traffic Services) and a directorship at Finnair from 2014 to 2017.
Legacy
[edit]Nigel Turner's career reflects a commitment to innovation and adaptability within the aviation industry. His leadership at bmi during a period of significant transformation, coupled with his subsequent roles in aircraft leasing and air traffic services, underscore his influence and contributions to the sector.
