Mehdi Berry (born 17 February 1995) is a Tunisian professional handball player who plays as a centre back (playmaker). He has competed at both national and international levels, represented the Tunisian national team,[1] and won several domestic, regional, and international titles during his career.
Early life
[edit]Berry was born in Tunisia in 1995. Standing 1.83 m (6 ft 0 in) tall and weighing 80 kg (176 lb), he primarily plays as a centre back. He is known for his tactical awareness and ability to organize play in attack. Berry speaks Arabic (native), French, and English fluently.
Club career
[edit]Étoile Sportive du Sahel (2011–2024)
[edit]Berry spent over a decade with Étoile Sportive du Sahel, one of Tunisia's top clubs competing in the National A League. During his time there, he won multiple national and regional titles, including the Tunisian Handball League (2018) and the Tunisian Handball Cup (2014, 2017).
Club Africain (2024–2025)
[edit]In 2024, Berry joined Club Africain, another leading Tunisian team. His performances contributed to the club's competitiveness in the Tunisian Handball League.
RK Sloboda Tuzla (2025–present)
[edit]In 2025, Berry signed with RK Sloboda Tuzla[2] of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Premier Handball League, marking his first professional season outside Tunisia. The transfer was covered by several Tunisian and Bosnian sports media outlets as well as the club's official announcement.[3][4]
International career
[edit]Berry represented the Tunisian national handball team from 2011 to 2017, taking part in several competitions organized by the International Handball Federation (IHF).
