Matteo Papetti (born 31 March 1998, Brescia) is an Italian film director, cinematographer, video editor and producer. He is known for his award-winning short film ResoNumero0051 (2023), winner of the Bookciak, Azione! Prize at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, and for his debut work Dear Brother (2022). He is co-founder of Horo Studios and collaborates with Phantom Studio s.r.l.

Biography

Papetti graduated from LABA (Libera Accademia di Belle Arti) in Brescia, where he specialized in set design for cinema and audiovisual production.[1]

He began his career during the COVID-19 pandemic, producing and directing his first short film Dear Brother (2022), which was selected and awarded in various international film festivals, including Monthly Indie Shorts, Paris Film Awards and Tokyo Film Awards.[2]

In 2023, his short film ResoNumero0051, based on a graphic novel by Davide Passoni, won the 12th edition of the Bookciak, Azione! Award, screened at 80th Venice International Film Festival during the Giornate degli Autori program.[3][4]

His next short, Èvanescence (2024), was released through Horo Studios.

In 2024–2025, he contributed as director of photography and producer to the shorts Sadness of Jubilee, Io Sono Qui and the upcoming And Nothing Comes Between. He has also worked as editor and colorist for several independent productions.
