Career

[edit]

Frites’s first widely released feature, Nancy et le monstre (2007), starred Majdouline Idrissi and Hicham Bahloul and had a commercial run in Morocco.[2] He followed with Ex Chamkar (2008), a social drama that featured Rafik Boubker, Saïd Bey, and Majdouline Idrissi.[3]

The CCM film fiche credits Frites as the **composer** of the score for Nancy et le monstre (2007).[4]

Reception

[edit]

Nancy et le monstre provoked debate in the Moroccan press: some praised its commercial success, while others criticized its artistic choices and Frites’s responses to criticism.[5] Ex Chamkar drew commentary noting its raw depiction of marginalized life but also critiques that it lacked plot coherence.[6]
