Lydia Liebman is an American publicist and media strategist based in New York City. She is the founder and president of Lydia Liebman Promotions, a public relations firm focused on jazz and related music. In 2021 she was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the music category.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
[edit]Liebman grew up in Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of saxophonist Dave Liebman and oboist and educator Caris Visentin Liebman.[4] She attended Emerson College in Boston, where she hosted a jazz radio show and began working in music publicity.[5][6]
Career
[edit]Liebman founded Lydia Liebman Promotions in 2011 while a student and began representing jazz artists and programs.[7] Her publicity clients have included saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin, pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and vocalist Catherine Russell.[8]
Liebman teaches at the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at The New School in New York City.[9] She has also been on the faculty of the Roc Nation School of Music at Long Island University.[10] Liebman has appeared as a speaker or panelist at industry events including Jazz Congress at Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Local 802 AFM Jazz Mentors series.[11][12]
