Liam Oakes (born 10 January 2007) is an English footballer who plays as a midfielder for EFL League One club Exeter City.[2]
Career
[edit]Richards joined Exeter City at under-nine level and progressed through the ranks to sign an academy scholarship in August 2023.[3] Having made his senior debut in August 2024, he was awarded man of the match in just his second appearance, an EFL Trophy victory over Swindon Town, being too young to receive the bottle of champagne that accompanied the award.[4]
In January 2025, Oakes joined Southern League Premier Division South side Plymouth Parkway on an initial one-month loan deal.[5][user-generated source]
On 26 March 2025, Oakes signed a first professional contract with the Grecians.[6][7] On 3 May 2025, the final day of the 2024–25 season, he made his league debut for the club as a late substitute in a 3–0 defeat to Mansfield Town.[8] Following the conclusion of the season, manager Gary Caldwell challenged Oakes to work on his strength and fitness for his return to the first-team for pre-season training.[9]
