EcoOnline is a global provider of cloud-based software for environmental, health and safety (EHS), chemical management, ESG & sustainability reporting, lone worker safety, and crisis management. Active since 2001,[1] and headquartered in London, United Kingdom,[2] its platform supports more than 11,000 businesses worldwide.[1] The company has been recognised as a Leader in the 2025 Verdantix Green Quadrant for both EHS and ESG software,[3][4] its ESG solution was awarded Top Product of the Year by Environment+Energy Leader[5], and EcoOnline also won the OHS Industrial Hygiene Award for chemical safety.[6]
History
[edit]EcoOnline was founded in Norway in 2001 as a provider of chemical safety software.[1] EcoOnline has expanded significantly through acquisitions, including StaySafe (2022), Alcumus’s software division (2022), Ecometrica (2023), and D4H (2025).
In 2022, EcoOnline acquired StaySafe, a UK-based specialist in lone worker safety solutions.[7] That same year, the company merged with the software division of Alcumus, supported by private equity firm Apax Partners.[8][9]
In 2023, EcoOnline acquired Ecometrica, an Edinburgh-based ESG and sustainability reporting platform.[10][11][12]
In 2025, EcoOnline acquired D4H, a Dublin-headquartered provider of crisis management and emergency response software.[13][14][15][16][17] The acquisition expanded EcoOnline’s suite to include crisis response and resilience tools.
Products and Services
[edit]EcoOnline offers a connected suite of SaaS solutions in:
- EHS management – health and safety software including risk assessments, incident reporting, audits, and safety monitoring.[18]
- Chemical management – chemical inventory management, safety data sheets (SDS), COSHH management with Sypol, and substitution planning.[19]
- Sustainability and ESG reporting – carbon accounting, net zero planning, and regulatory reporting, enhanced by the acquisition of Ecometrica.[10][12]
- Lone worker safety – mobile app and monitoring hub, supported by the acquisition of StaySafe.[7]
- Crisis and emergency management – crisis planning and real-time incident response coordination, expanded via the D4H acquisition.[13][15]
- Training and eLearning – a learning management system (LMS) for safety and compliance training.[20]

- A 2024 EU CSRD Readiness Report, which found that only 37% of mid-market businesses reported being “almost ready” for EU CSRD compliance—versus 60% among enterprise firms—suggesting many mid-sized businesses may be left behind.[29]
