History

[edit]

Dubai Irish F.C. was established to provide a platform for both expatriate and local players to compete in competitive football within the UAE.[2] Drawing on strong ties to the Irish expatriate community in Dubai, the club emphasizes inclusivity and grassroots development while competing at a senior level.[3]

The team joined the UAE Third Division League, the fourth tier of Emirati football, following the league’s expansion in the early 2020s. The league provides opportunities for community-based and private clubs to participate in structured competition under UAEFA oversight.

Approaching the 2025/26 season Dubai Irish hired Stephen Ward [4] as their new sporting director. Whilst also signing Shamrock Rovers player Jack Byrne on loan.[5]

Stadium

[edit]

Dubai Irish F.C. plays its home matches at JA Sports Centre grounds in Jebel Ali, Dubai. The club maintains a strong connection with Dubai’s Irish community[6] , as the club also runs an academy for youth age groups as well as girls[7]. They also compete in the DAFL[8], where they feature multiple teams such as their U23s and B team. [9]
