Deepu Pampoorickal Thomas (also known as Deepu P Thomas) is an Indian anthropologist, academician, songwriter, and composer.[1][2] He has released many EPs, and collections with the band El Poderoso Kukulkan.[3] His works are available on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, and other streaming platforms.[4][5]

Deepu Pampoorickal Thomas was born on 26 July 1981. He completed his schooling at St. Teresa's School in Pakkil, Vimala School in Perumbavoor, Queen Mary's School in Mudickal, and Kuriakose Elias School in Mannanam. He undertook his pre-degree studies at Kuriakose Elias College, Mannanam, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from St. Thomas College, Pala. Deepu later obtained a Master of Arts in Anthropology from Pondicherry University.[6]

After completing his master’s degree in anthropology in 2011, Deepu joined academia as an assistant professor on a contractual basis.[7] Alongside his teaching career, he has worked as an editor and ghostwriter. His ongoing research focuses on menstrual taboos and sacred sexuality. His MA thesis related work on menstrual taboos have been circulated online and cited in subsequent regional studies.[8][9]
