CyberGrid GmbH is an Austrian technology company headquartered in Vienna, Austria. The company develops software solutions for the integration and management of distributed energy resources, with a focus on renewable energy and battery storage in electricity markets. [1]

History

[edit]
Mag. Peter Nemček (Co-Founder and CTO), Mag. Alexander Kofink, MBA (CEO), and Mag. Marko Svetina (Co-Founder)

CyberGrid was founded in 2010 as RK Project Services GmbH and rebranded as CyberGrid GmbH in 2011. It was established to support the integration of renewable and flexible energy generation, storage, and consumption. [1] In 2012, Toshiba acquired a majority stake in the company, which it held until 2015. [2] Since 2022, CyberGrid has been a wholly owned subsidiary of EVN AG, an Austrian utility company. [3]

Operations

[edit]

CyberGrid operates primarily in Europe, providing services to transmission system operators (TSOs), distribution system operators (DSOs), utilities, aggregators, asset owners, balancing responsible parties (BRPs), balancing service providers (BSPs), commercial and industrial energy consumers, energy communities, prosumers, and energy traders. The company maintains its headquarters in Vienna and a research facility in Lebring. [4]

Products and technology

[edit]

The company’s main product is CyberNoc, a modular software platform designed to aggregate and manage distributed energy resources, including battery storage, renewable energy sources, distributed generation, electric vehicles, and industrial demand-side resources. [5] [6] The platform provides real-time monitoring and control of energy assets, supports automated bidding in electricity markets, and enables participation in various market segments such as Frequency Restoration Reserve (FRR) and Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR). [7]

CyberNoc is used by utilities and grid operators in several European countries. [6]
