Carly Bigi is an American entrepreneur. She is the founder and chief executive officer of Laws of Motion, a NYC–based womenswear brand and technology company.[1][2]
Early life and education
[edit]Bigi grew up in Houston, Texas in the NASA community.[3]She holds a BS from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from Columbia Business School, where she is an adjunct lecturer in Entrepreneurial Strategy.[4]
Career
[edit]Bigi began her career at Deloitte Consulting.[5]
In 2019, Bigi launched Laws of Motion as a direct-to-consumer womenswear brand, using the company's proprietary AI sizing technology and on-demand manufacturing to offer clothing in 99 micro-sizes.[6] The company's use of AI to improve fit and reduce returns was recognized by TIME Magazine as an Invention of the Year and featured on NBC's Today Show.[7][8]
In 2024, Bigi began licensing Laws of Motion's proprietary AI sizing technology to other retail partners.[9] The sizing technology uses a fit quiz, body scan, or measurements to calculate customer body measurements with 99% accuracy and determine the best-fitting size per product.[10]
Covid-19 pivot
[edit]During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company pivoted its Americas-based supply chain to produce personal protective equipment (PPE). The company supplied more than two million medical gowns across New York State over a six-week period.[11]
Recognition
[edit]Bigi's recognition includes the "World Changing Idea" award from Fast Company (2021).[12][13] She was named to Inc's Female Founder 250 and in 2025 received the Hilldun Business Innovation Award from Fashion Group International. [14][15] She has spoken at ndustry events such as Shoptalk.[16]
