Budavets is a collaborative studio album by American hip hop duo N.B.S. (Natural Born Spitters) and Hungarian production team Scarcity Budapest (often credited as ScarcityBP). It was released digitally on January 30, 2014, and physically on April 15, 2014, via Big Bang Records, Goon MuSick, and Scarcity Budapest.[1]
The album's title is a portmanteau of "Budapest" and "Vets" (a moniker often used by N.B.S.), reflecting the international bridge between the group's home in Cambridge, Massachusetts and the production team's base in Hungary. The project features a wide array of guest appearances from both American and international artists, including Slaine, Edo G, Akrobatik, Merkules, and Sicknature.[2]
Background and recording
[edit]Budavets represents a significant expansion of N.B.S.'s international reach. After touring Europe extensively, the duo connected with the Hungarian hip hop collective Scarcity Budapest, led by producer Aza. The collaboration resulted in a project that blends N.B.S.'s East Coast "boom bap" lyricism with ScarcityBP's gritty, European underground production style.
The album serves as a precursor to their later international collaborative albums, such as SwissVets (with Swiss producers) and Trapped in America (with German production team Snowgoons).
