Submission declined on 23 September 2025 by Sksatsuma (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of music-related topics). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Comment: Although charting is one of the alternative criteria for notability, as the EP itself didn't chart, this doesn't qualify. Additionally, notability isn't inherited, ie even though the songs may be notable, that doesn't necessarily establish that the EP itself is.Therefore this would need to be assessed against WP:GNG. I would suggest finding more indpendent, reliable sources which discuss the topic in depth (for example your Clash magazine reference would fulfil this criteria).Reviews are often a good source for musical releases, especially for a well established and notable artist such as Capaldi. sksatsuma 15:41, 23 September 2025 (UTC)

Bloom is the debut extended play by Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi. It was released as a digital download on 20 October 2017.[1] It includes the singles "Fade", "Bruises" "Mercy", and "Lost on You". Whilst the EP did not chart itself, "Bruises" charted at number six on the UK Singles Chart,[A] whilst "Fade" and "Lost on You" peaked at number 52 and number 38, respectively, on the UK Streaming Chart.[B][C][4] Additionally, "Mercy" was certified silver in the United Kingdom.[5]
Background
[edit]Announcing the extended play, Capaldi explains it as “a collection of songs that captures the last year of my life, and features songs I recorded in London, New York and Los Angeles. [The] Songs Fade & Mercy were recorded only a few months ago so they’re almost as fresh to me as anybody else listening.”[6]
Critical reception
[edit]Rolling Stone France said, "By relying on the risky but sometimes rewarding formula of extreme simplicity, the Scottish singer delivers his promise and follows in the footsteps of James Bay and LP."[7][D] Wonderland Magazine praised the EP, stating that "the four tracks tear at your heartstrings and leave you breathless. But, you know, in a good way."[8] The Independent declared that they were "obsessed" with Bloom, and everything from it ranging "from the sombre piano to his soaring, powerful voice that is bound to draw comparisons to the likes of Paolo Nutini, Jack Savoretti and Tom Grennan."[9]
