Ariles De Tizi (born February 16, 1984) is a French-Algerian visual artist, designer, and creative director based in New York City. His body of work ranging from painting and photography to sculpture and film examine themes such as cultural identity.

Early life and education

Ariles De Tizi was born in Hussein Dey, Algeria. Amid the early turmoil of the Algerian Civil War, his family moved to France when he was six years old. Growing up in Belleville district of Paris, he developed an early interest in photography and urban art. As noted by Artsper, De Tizi developed his artistic skills independently, cultivating his style through practical exploration during his time in the advertising field before ultimately devoting himself entirely to his art.[1]

Career

Ariles De Tizi held his debut solo show at Galerie Lavignes in Paris in 2013. His multidisciplinary works- combining elements of painting, photography, found materials, and immersive installations- convey themes rooted in postcolonial experience, city life, and spiritual heritage. His exhibitions have been featured at cultural institutions, including the Louvre, Institut du Monde Arabe, Basilica of Saint-Denis, Centre Pompidou, and Palais de Tokyo.[2] His works involves cross-border collaborations throughout New York, Jakarta, and Asia.[3] One of his exhibitions is called Mater-Queens of France.[4]
